which means Pakistan has a better chance of winning ![]()
Re: Breaking news-----Lee Out Of WC
As long as Clarke, Symonds and Ponting are there, Aussies are still huge favorites. Guess we are not the only ones with problems!
Re: Breaking news-----Lee Out Of WC
I think someone said this a week or so ago or I read at cricinfo…
this world cup is survival of the fittest. this shows that this game is about team work.
Lets the game begin! :k:
Re: Breaking news-----Lee Out Of WC
A serious blow indeed................ Lee's ankle injury occurred during a training fall rather than during a serious game which is very unfortunate for him.
Scans on Lee's damaged ankle ligaments revealed he would be out of action for up to three months
Re: Breaking news-----Lee Out Of WC
As Ian Chappel calls it, it is going to be a Well Cup rather. Whoever brings 11 fit player on the ground will have better chance of winning the cup.
Without Lee, Austrailia will loose half of its fire power in bowling department. Look at how badly they bowled after posting 300+ many times in last two weeks.
I think SA has now more chances then anyone else with the most fit and inform players.
Brett Lee ruled out of World Cup
New Delhi: Australian pacer Brett Lee has been ruled out of the World Cup with an ankle injury. Ashes hero Stuart Clark will replace Lee. The pace spearhead suffered an ankle injury during a training session in New Zealand 10 days ago.
“It is a great disappointment for Brett Lee that he is unable to take his place in the cricket World Cup, and it is a significant blow for the planning and preparation in place for the tournament,” chairman of the Australian selection committee Andrew Hilditch said.
“However, it does give a tremendous opportunity for Stuart Clark to join the 15-man squad,” Hilditch said. “Stuart was extremely unlucky to miss out on initial selection and, despite the unfortunate circumstances surrounding his inclusion, we strongly believe that Stuart is primed to seize his opportunity.”
Australian team doctor Trefor James said: “Orthopedic surgeon Kim Slater … has today advised me that the injury has not improved over the last week,” James said. “On that basis I have advised Cricket Australia that Brett will not be fit to resume bowling for two to three months.”
“Though Brett’s injury is disappointing from a personal and team perspective, we strongly believe we are taking a squad of players more than capable of winning a third successive cricket World Cup,” Hilditch said.
Michael Brown, Cricket Australia’s general manager of cricket operations, said he had informed the International Cricket Council of Lee’s injury and requested permission to name Clark as his replacement.
“I have today advised (Clark) that, subject to ICC approval, I would expect him to be on the plane to the West Indies on Wednesday,” Brown said.
The withdrawal of their strike bowler comes as a serious blow to Australia’s World Cup campaign after their bowling attack struggled in New Zealand without Lee, losing the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy 0-3 and failing to defend totals of 336 and 346.

Has to be great news for everyone, especially South Africa. As they are also in the group with Aussies.
Pakistani chances of losing to Australia in the final just got slimmer...
