Bhoja Air - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On 24 January 1998 Bhoja Air commenced international flights from Karachi to Dubai. Later, Bhoja Air operated flights to the U.A.E from all major cities of Pakistan. However due to financial difficulties, Bhoja Air suspended its operations in 2001, although its airline license issued by CAA – Pakistan remained valid and it maintained a fully functional headquarter office in Karachi and an operations and ramp office at Karachi airport. Bhoja Air restarted operations in 2012.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Boeing 737 crashes near Pindi

More people die in car accidents around the worlds in millions than air crashes (43K in the US alone) each year. While tragic as it is, accidents happen. Its part of life & air travel is still the safest form of modern transportation.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Boeing 737 crashes near Pindi

Agreed, there is no deny this fact that it’s still the safest. :hoonh: But still, nothing should be left to chance, and the related authorities should try their level bes to minimizes these incidents, as much as humanly possible. The last thing we need is criminal negligence, that should be absolute zero.

Hands of this government are drenched in our blood . I don't know what miracle this nation is waiting for !!!

May be we are only good for killing our daughters and sisters in the name of 'Gharat' , otherwise we are 'BeGharat' of highest order .

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Boeing 737 crashes near Pindi

islamabad , no doubt is one of the world's dangerous airports to land on .. however dangers of crashes increase when there is no safety criteria in place .. planes arent being looked after , no new investment is being made in modern technology ...

A few more hours and this incident will also be forgotten just like how we forgot Air Blue last year .. and Gayari just 15 days back ...
we cant class them as natural disasters coz its human beings who set the foundation ready for natural disasters to kick in ...

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Boeing 737 crashes near Pindi

How foolish , Hands are drenched in our blood are known ,Well known ,It is their absolute domain of them since decades . Since 5os when Liaqat Ali Khan was killed and the plane of investigators was 'crashed' in Pindi division .

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Boeing 737 crashes near Pindi

What this has to do with the government? It was not even PIA. The plane belonged to a private party. And yes according to your stupid logic 911, dashing of planes on world trade center was fault of Bush government. Isn't it?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Boeing 737 crashes near Pindi

so Farooq Bhoja is taken into custody! ... wht about CAA negligance?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Boeing 737 crashes near Pindi

Some of the earlier posters said that the plane was given permission to fly. Why?

From reading other news sources, and comments. It seems most aviation enthusiasts are mentioning two words consistently, "microburst" and "wind sheer". The pilot attempted to fly lower than clouds on approach but the plane was pushed downward due to force. Having a faulty Altimeter could not have helped matters. If you don't know how low you're flying, you might as well be taxiing.

Very tragic nonetheless. It was sad hearing the interview of those who were flying into Islamabad from Karachi. Most had no hope in the investigation because they all cited Air Blue incident, and findings of which are still nothing to be confident about.

Again, I feel there is a need for a bigger, better airport. This airport is too close to Hills and weather has a big play in the area.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Boeing 737 crashes near Pindi

There was a scare due to some fault in Qantas Airline (Australias national carrer) although the plane averted a crash. The Australians grounded the whole fleet to check all aeroplanes for similar defects before taking on the skies again. On the other hand we have had a crash, and another near miss today and now the Defence minister is saying that they will check all the planes although the flights are still in operation. They should check the control system in Islamabad as well.

Qantas A380 landing: Airlines were warned in August over engine safety | Business | The Guardian

**Two airlines grounded their fleets of Airbus A380 superjumbos today following an emergency landing by a Qantas plane after one of its engines blew apart in mid-air, damaging a wing and showering debris on the ground below.
**
It emerged tonight that in August Europe’s air safety watchdog issued an alert about abnormal wear inside the British-made Rolls Royce engines used on the huge, double-decker planes, though experts said it was too early to tell if the two were connected.

Flight QF32 from London to Sydney had just taken off from a stopover in Singapore when the plane suffered what the Qantas chief executive, Alan Joyce, described as a “significant engine failure”.

Passengers described a loud bang and a flash of flame. They then saw part of the casing of engine apparently stripped away, and a small hole in the wing. Dozens of pieces of debris, believed to be from the engine, were found on the Indonesian island of Batam. “There were flames, yellow flames came out, and debris came off. You could see black things shooting through the smoke, like bits of debris,” said passenger Rosemary Hegardy.

While the plane, carrying 433 passengers and 26 crew, was able to circle to dump fuel before landing safely at Singapore’s Changi airport shortly before midday local time, Qantas – famous, thanks to the film Rain Man, for its enviable safety record – announced it was grounding its A380s. Experts from the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch flew to Singapore yesterday to help the inquiry.

“We do take our safety reputation unbelievably seriously and we’re not going to take risks with passenger safety,” Joyce said. “As a precaution, we’re suspending flights of the A380.” Early this morning Singapore Airlines said its A380 services would continue as technical checks had been completed. Lufthansa was conducting checks without interrupting flights. Two other airlines that fly the A380 use other engines.

The incident – the most serious safety scare involving the world’s biggest airliner in its three years of service – is a particular worry for Rolls Royce, which makes the Trent 900 engines fitted to most A380s at its Derby factory. The company, which lost more than 5% of its share price today, said it was working with airlines to see what went wrong. It refused to discuss the directive issued by the European Aviation Safety Agency in August which warned that scrutiny of stripped Trent 900s had found that unusual wear on splines used to secure the turbines could lead to engine failure coupled with “oil migration and oil fire”.
