Yes, course they do but in this case I don't see the benefit, in fact it's more usual to pretend that leaders like Osama are alive and appear healthy as it helps their fighters keep up their morale and of course makes the group itself look stronger to the outside world.. They could be lying now but to me it's far more likely that they're not as they gain more by being associated with such a name.. Saying he's dead when he's not would make them look weaker imo..
Quite the contrary. This could be an excellent opportunity for the terrorists. Revenge is a much stronger catalyst than a simple 'Yo, its all good. He's safe!' Vowing vengeance upon the West and their Eastern allies is a much bigger recruitment pitch than just an old man in hiding talking. Its simply psychology (Even though I'm applying it to a poor situation). Rage will get you fired up more than a thumbs up.

My theory is this that Pakistan's intelligence was involved, but USA/Pakistan are playing this Pakistani intelligence ignorance game so terrorist wont take their ghussa out on Pakistan.

Makes sense but just reading through the TTP threats thread makes me worried for Pakistan. Also, do the terrorists really care who is actually responsible?
Mainstream media news are skewed and biased to cater their own agenda. Like Fox is trying hard to make Pakistan look bad but anchors at msnbc is not making judgments at this point. But and its a HUGE but...mainstream media is not going to flat out lie especially about the news of this magnitude.
Another FACT is that you and me all of us rely of some sort of media to get our news and we choose which biased view we like the most.......
