i just heard Waqt News reporting an Indonesian Private Airline’s aircraft has gone MISSING! … the news details are sketchy at the moment…it’s developing story. no major news media is reporting.
this flight was bound to Singapore from Jakarta.
i hope it will be found soon and it’s not another case of aircraft gone missing like Malaysian Airlines flight which also disappeared in early 2014.
let’s pray for the safety of the passengers. aameen

An AirAsia flight from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore lost contact with air traffic control on Sunday, Indonesian media said, citing a Transport Ministry official.
Transport Ministry official Hadi Mustofa said the aircraft, flight number QZ8501, lost contact with the Jakarta air traffic control tower at 6:17 a.m local time. (2317 GMT).
He said the plane had asked for an unusual route before it lost contact.

An AirAsia flight from Indonesia to Singapore is missing, the airline said in a statement.
"AirAsia Indonesia regrets to confirm that flight QZ8501 from Surabaya to Singapore has lost contact with air traffic control at 07:24hrs this morning," the airline said in a statement.
There are 162 people aboard the Airbus A320-200, Hadi Mustofa, an official of the transportation ministry told Indonesia's MetroTV, according to The Associated Press.
"At the present time we unfortunately have no further information regarding the status of the passengers and crew members on board, but we will keep all parties informed as more information becomes available,"the airline said.
"At this time, search and rescue operations are in progress and AirAsia is cooperating fully and assisting the rescue service," the statement said.
The Airbus 320-200 can carry up to 246 passengers, according to the company's website.

oh god...........i was flying on Air Asia extensively in last 4 weeks between Jakarta, Singapore and KL. Sad news indeed. I hope everyone survives.
Budget Airliner,with a good record. They had introduced on air mobile service in December 2010 and I was on that flight from KL to India.Recently they started off in India as a domestic player and they rates have been slashed like anything.

i'm surprised that they have service to India. i just checked their round-trip fare between Kolkatta and Melbourne. it's so cheap...i got a fare of Rs. 40,500 roughly $736 Canadian. :)

Yes.They have international services.It's been there for a long time.Their Bengaluru -Singapore round trip sometimes costs just Rs 14000.You can get KualaLumpur connections aswell at the same rate.

yes budget airline..really cheap fares for india i heard. I flew few times with them within the ASEAN region this month and then stuck to MAL, SAL and garuda.

AirAsia's connections to Singapore from India is a good thing for both Malaysia and Singapore travelers like me.They have immediate connections to Singapore from KL.

nope…more than 24 hours have passed and yet no news. it’s really strange and a bit creepy that planes disappear without a trace. koii jin vin yeh Harkat kar rahaa hai kia?
