Re: Breaking News: Akhtar, Asif called back to Pakistan!
If the steriods were really used for injury recovery by PCB doctors than shouldn't the PCB know about them? And if they knew about them than why the heck would you ban the players? If they were afraid that the ICC might catch them than they shouldn't have used it in the first place or maybe created a strong case if the ICC does happen to detect the banned substances in their system. This situation, just like the situation at the Oval, reeks of incompetence to me. There might be teams composed of pre-teens on the streets of Gujranwala that are better managed than this. I'm pretty sure there are many banned substances going around the blood systems in the Australian, English etc cricket system but I'm also sure that their board knows exactly what they are getting involved in and that ratting on your players just before a major tournament shouldn't be an option.
Also, steroids definitely do help every athlete. Besides the facts that it speeds up muscle recovery and what not, it also helps you focus more on the game, which can be helpful to both bowlers and batsmen. So for a fast bowler, not only will it help you to bowl at speeds of 90+ mph, it can also help your line and length. Likewise for batsmen, not only can it help you hit sixes upon sixes with relative ease, it can also help your timing on the ball, making it useless to start slogging.
