Bread

How long can bread be left outside before it goes bad? And what is the ideal time limit to consume a loaf?

Re: Bread

depends on the weather .. even though its 10 degrees in my city these days , if i leave the bread out overnight , it goes off in a day ..

its best to keep it refrigerated though specially if you know you wont be consuming the whole pack in a day or two .. but if you know that the whole pack will be done in a day , then no worries you can leave it out overnight.

Re: Bread

It also depends on the bread. White bread vs. Brown bread.

Re: Bread

there is an expiry date [BEST before date], that's how long it's good for. it doesn't go bad even after that date [that's why it's says 'BEST before']...If you see mold, or it tastes/smells weird or if it's texture is tough and rough, it's bad then!

rule of the thumb is 5 days.

Re: Bread

Depends on weather and bread. For me not more than 2 days but in my part of globes the warmth is approaching so its in fridge usually and it usually take me 5 to 7 days to consume and its not ruined alhumdulillah

Re: Bread

real bread goes stale in 3-4 days max. bread with all kinds of funky chemicals in it to keep it from going stale will last a month in your fridge. basically it will get moldy before it gets stale.

Re: Bread

We usually get rye bread and i keep it out for 3-4 days then in the fridge...but recently whenever I get bread its getting bad the day after even though its between 4-8 degrees here :s

Re: Bread

omg.....bread is my weakness.....
those of you in USA/CDA....you have to try the new Farmhouse Style bread by Dempsters.....
just yum!!!!

Re: Bread

we keep our bread in the wooden bread box for a week [MAX] if it's NOT finished already...we never ever buy more than ONE loaf of bread at a time because we have no kids at home and hardly ever make sandwiches...we buy our sandwiches from outside.
