braxton hicks

have any of you ladies encountered braxton hicks contractions?

with munchkin I got quite a severe dose of them whilst driving in peak hour traffic. And I can still remember the pain..

This time round, I felt them for the first time about 2 weeks back… and they were P A I N F U L… I am getting bouts of them on and off for the past 2-3 days… especially to my right side…

any ideas on what can be helpful?

Deep breaths. And usually lying down slowed my Braxton hicks.
I usually felt them when I was active. Resting slowed them down a lot.

Re: braxton hicks

Cool.. I’ll give that a go.. :k:

did you also suffer from nausea/vomitting in 3rd trimister?

Re: braxton hicks

I used to get them a lot a few weeks before I had my baby. Mostly during driving as well, or standing for longer periods. I guess, just relax a bit.

Re: braxton hicks

I have had very few of those.

Re: braxton hicks

I get them on days when I think I am exceptionally pooped...

I did try to rest lastnight, so am feeling a lot better today. Going for a pregnancy massage during my lunch break :D

Re: braxton hicks

I got them near the end last time. This time, however, I've been getting them since the beginning of 2nd trimester. Most of mine were while driving as well. Not fun!

Re: braxton hicks

tell me about it.... ! they are rather painful.... and i get them to the side, not the front. Which sort of freaks me out

braxton hicks

They were so painful:grumpy: I had severe heartburn and nausea/vomitting throughout pregnancy..even during delivery:mad2:

Re: braxton hicks

^ yeah i am going through the nausea (all over again) and heartburn... its horrendous.

I had mylanta lastnight, which helped quite a bit. At least I slept for few hours which is different

Re: braxton hicks

You and I need to talk madam :asa:! I am soooooo behind in your life !

Re: braxton hicks

^^ :D

Re: braxton hicks

I thought it was the baby moving. Turned out it was a contraction. I just took it as a matter of course. They were happening before my c-section too, due to the fact that I was probably in panic mode.

Re: braxton hicks

I had them late pregnancy with my DD. Try breathing exercises, they actually work! And walking, lots and lots of walking!

Re: braxton hicks

They would always start 6 weeks before the due date....but weren't that painful. I went into false labour watching news on tv about the earthquake in Pakistan. That was painful.

Re: braxton hicks

Ive been having them since 20 weeks on and off. sometimes several times a day. not painful at all, just uncomfy. i thought they would happen later in pregnancy but oh well. drinking water helps a lot, although having a full bladder can trigger them as well. the more i walk the more i get them. not fun.

Re: braxton hicks

gosh.. ive still got at least 11 or so weeks to go, Inshallah..... I do want the baby to pop, but not this soon! :)

tranquil.. depends on how busy I have been during the day. Sometimes they are quite faint, at other times they have been quite hard to deal with..
