Afghans never did any favours to the Hindustani Musalman. After the battle of Panipat, Afghans soldiers raped and pillaged Muslim villages and Qasbas in and arroound Delhi.
And the Marathas never forced anyone to convert to Hinduism. They maintained Farsi as the language of administration, and used Muslim officers and administrators. The poet Ghalib’s uncle was an administrator under the Marathas, and so was Sir Syeds father. Infact, after ten years of Afghan military occupation of Delhi, the people revolted and called Mahadjee Sindhia to expel them and station his forces. Even Shah Waliullah regreted inviting the Afghans, and had very good personal relations with the various Maratha chiefs.
Most Hundustanee Musalmaan have a low opoinion on Afghans, who were often potrayed as dry fruit sellers and money lenders in Urdu literature. So they have nothing to be thankfull to the denizens of Pakhtunkhwa.
And ask any honest Punjabi Musalmaan, and he will nothing but bad things to say about Afghan occupation of Punjab. Infact in Kashmir, the word Afghan is an insult.
