Re: "Brave" Batsmen who played pacers without helmet!
my bad...I really meant Nari Contractor when I said Bapu Nadkarni.
Re: "Brave" Batsmen who played pacers without helmet!
well Inzi started his career without helmet, and I think his ODI and test debu was against WI.
Laterwards Imran warned him about the consequences, so he realized.

:D
Re: "Brave" Batsmen who played pacers without helmet!
Inzimam never wore a helmet when he started his career, regardless of which bowler he was facing. Imran Khan even said that Inzimam had a problem adjusting to the helmet.
Re: "Brave" Batsmen who played pacers without helmet!
Show me Favaskar pic with helmet. He faced West Indian quickies without helmet and kick their ass in their backyard.
Re: "Brave" Batsmen who played pacers without helmet!
Sunny always wore the white protection under the sunhat. It wasn't a full blown helmet but rather hard foam around the head.
Also as a player I know it is a lot harder to play with the helmet on. So not wearing a helmet makes the batting a bit easier.
Re: "Brave" Batsmen who played pacers without helmet!
Miandad knock wood, gesture to the head did it against almost all the bowlers and it was quite visible that he did it for teasing-show-off purposes.
That explains his present mental state, or was there some thing in 'Tambakuu paan parag'
Personaly I think it was STUPID and conforms to ones lack of education and maila brain cells
Re: "Brave" Batsmen who played pacers without helmet!
He did that during later phase of his career. Also playing with that protection require guts. One need to have really good technique to not play with big helpmets with steel mesh on it.
Re: "Brave" Batsmen who played pacers without helmet!
dekho bhai log....no matter how great a batsman you are or how third-class the bowler is....the probability of the ball hitting your head is always there....for example there is always a chance that you can nick the ball onto your head while playing the ball...like Ewen Chattfield...this has nothing to do with the class of the bowler.
So to be safe rather than sorry.... HELMET UP !!
Re: "Brave" Batsmen who played pacers without helmet!
^ its not about "accidents", as I said earlier 70s, 80s had bowlers bowling bouncers after bouncers "scaring" the sh!t out of most batmen.... I am not talking about 'medium pacers' but "pacers", in that era when you take on those bowlers without helmets needed guts and courage (of course your skills included).
