this middle eastern guy at work.. put me to it.. usually i look at whole wheat pita as some third class cheap food.. but hey.. guess we are .. cheap and third class so why not..
the filling in the pita was crab meat mixed with egg salad.. i make good egg salad and then crab meat took it to another level..
was a nice light lunch.. didnt even have to warm it so i could easily pack it away for kids too.
other kinds of filling could be: the infamous nimkos tikkas with garden salad..
OR this egg role filling that i made from left over meats in the salanss
( meat from left over chicken curry, grated carrots, thinly sliced cabbage, lots of crushed black pepper.. saute all with some soy sauce and hot sauce to taste ... )
make egg roles out of it or fill wraps or whole wheat pita///
I LOVE whole wheat pita bread. The idea sounds good. You should also try whole wheat pita with cucumber, peppers, feta cheese, olives, lettuce and tomatoes. It tastes heavenly!
Totally dont see the connection with cheap third class people and pita bread though
i'll try that.. i'm just so wary of seafood...
and it would be nice to have real crab instead of the imitation ones on the store shelves..
this thread made me crave a pita sandwich yest.. so i made one yesterday with the leftover smoked kebabs, seared onions and stuck a slice of cheddar cheese in it, and also put in some mint chutney. it was yumm.
Hin,
Last night I spent an hour stocking up on pitas and laukis at the grocery store after reading your's and bhabs' lauki section. I am soooo excited to hopefully put on some weight after consuming all these delicious recipes!
