Brand Ganguly: It’s all in the name
KOLKATA, Aug 19: After shopping malls and a restaurant Sourav Ganguly will now lend his name to a co-ed school. He however, insists on having made no investments in these projects.
Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is putting his business talent to much use, and his next venture, after a city restaurant named after him, is going to be a co-ed school.
If everything goes off fine, the school should be enrolling its first batch in April 2005. The school is coming up on a large plot of land that the West Bengal government has given him.
According to Ganguly family sources, the higher secondary school would be affiliated to ICSE and the medium of instruction would be English.
The project is said to be worth Rs.20 million. Though work on construction of the sprawling campus is yet to commence, the process of selecting teachers and staff is said to have begun.
Ganguly, considered one of India’s most successful captains, has his fingers in many business pies that include shopping malls and a cricket academy. Besides, he has numerous endorsement deals.
‘Sourav’s’ will mix the features of a formal dining place with an informal restaurant and will come up on Park Street, the city’s most prominent address for swanky eateries.
Besides lending his name to the gastronomic venture, Ganguly has been taking a keen interest in its designing, menu and staff.
The new four-layered restaurant will have a coffee shop on the ground floor, a vegetarian restaurant on the first, a non-vegetarian multi-cuisine restaurant on the second and a sports lounge bar on the top floor.
‘Sourav’s’ hopes to open its doors to guests in October.
But the ace cricketer insists that he had no investment in the project. Like he insists he is only lending his name to two shopping malls coming up in southern Kolkata.
ok, what are we looking at here??? is it the re-incarnation of another GOD (after sachin)???
