Brand consciousness

How brand conscious would you say you are when buying clothes or aftershave or watches or whatever?

Rate yourself on a scale of 1-10. 1 Being not at all and 10 being extremely.

I would give myself a 6

Re: Brand consciousness

I'm a 5

I only own one high end product, not because i can't afford it, i just dont care for it.

Re: Brand consciousness

only when it comes to watches and handbags a 9

Re: Brand consciousness

For makeup, its pretty high, that stuff lasts a while and is used on the skin so had better be good.

Re: Brand consciousness

Overall I'd say 7

Re: Brand consciousness

I don't think I own a single branded item. My watch would be the "highest" brand I own and it's from Fossil. It's not about being able to afford them.. I don't like the commitment part that comes with brands.. I feel like I need to keep them for a long time to justify the money I spend on them. This especially applies to cosmetics.. for example, I wouldn't spend more than $10 on a mascara since I don't even use it every day and it would expire after 6-8 months.. i think I would use it less than 10 times during that period.

Re: Brand consciousness

probably a 6.
I often enjoy the quality that comes with a brand but that's about it.

Re: Brand consciousness

When it comes to clothing and accessories I'd say I am a 7 - I own branded things but I don't own anything that has labels blaring all over it to show its branded.

I like - as Muzna says - the quality that comes along with a particular brand.

When it comes to beauty - a 10. If it goes on my face, its gotta be good.

Re: Brand consciousness

It's different for different things. For fashion jewelry, I really don't care, as long as it doesn't look tacky. For clothing, I would say I'm a 7. For shoes, cell phone and makeup, I'm an 8. For perfumes, 9. Coffee, 10.

I am brand conscious enough that I would never shop at places I consider cheap. For example, I would never buy a greeting card from the Dollar store because it has the label at the back. At the same time, I wouldn't buy a branded item just because of the name; I have to like it and look good in it.

Similar to Reha, I don't like to showoff so I wouldn't buy anything that has labels blaring all over it.

Re: Brand consciousness

Probably a 8 or a 9, but I'm taking the meaning of "brand conscious" quite literally - I like to keep my eye on fashion and know all the big names/upcoming designers although I actually only own a few real designer items. For example I'm conscious that the dress I bought from h&m was probably inspired by something from a designer.

Speaking of H&M I <3 their designer collaborations!

Re: Brand consciousness

i like quality stuff

Re: Brand consciousness

No I am not. Even sometimes new brands that get introduced in Market are more good than the Branded Items. For buying, to me, Quality matters most, if I see something and feel it can be reliable and worth a try, I buy it. After all, Brands were once New too.... they became a name when people used it found them good. I try new things. But I don't compromise on Quality.

Re: Brand consciousness

Tbh I don't know how to rate myself.
Quality is what I go for, If I need something and branded one is available, I'll go for it, but if its only the hype then definitely no.

The things are for me, I am not for them. I define my style, not any branded item.

Re: Brand consciousness

I look for the quality but then it ends up being a ‘label’ anyway!! kinda like you get what you pay for…alhamdulilah most of my personal items are of great quality and I take much pride in wearing them and feeling good about myself…oh btw I am an 8…my other half would disagree he would think I am an 11 :hehe:
