I like this quote, I was thinking of how to convey this message but this quote makes a my point.
I used to be very brand concious I had very big dreams to make grand purchases when I get a job, but not so much anymore, thank God the dream died before I got a chance to go on my shopping spree. I have juicy couture wallets, makowsky bags, and coach penny purses (college budget friendly brands nothing too crazy) but I bought them to last me a long time and because I liked it I don’t think I’m going to part with them for a while. I think I’m levelheaded when it comes to spending money, I don’t like to splurge too much.
dreams don’t die…it may take sometimes to fulfill because ‘no dreams no gains’…but, having said that, materially, i believe one must dream for good and modest things rather than fall victim to the trend and dream about things that are exaggerated to a great deal. morally and career-wise, one must dream big!
i buy things for it’s intended purpose in mind rather than who made it. i would be happy to buy a car that takes me from pint A to point be which is comfortable and reliable…if a Corolla can do the job then why buy a Mercedes Benz? if a regular jacket can protect me from cold then why buy a more expensive designer jacket, if a good quality sunglasses can protect my eyes from the sun then why buy a more expensive brand.
if i ever get crazy enough to show off [my status], i would rather show them my bank book!
You are truly humble, one cannot match your spirit :p, I wasn’t necessarily saying my dream died, I was saying as a result of growing up, my values have somewhat changed, before I used to dream I would shop in the likes of Gucci and Prada very high ended thinking, now I think I’m staying with college budget friendly brands and using and abusing whatever I buy.
If you know MAllika sherwat (indian actor)..The Rolls royce showroom refused to sell her car..as her image of an item girl is not good for owning a rolls royce…
Reminds me Benazir’s speech in national assembly during the session when Miyan Nawaz Sharif was elected second time: ‘wo ghoRa lao jo ddodh peeta hai.. wo ghoRa lao jo shehad khata hai’
Jokes aside, I am not a brand guy. Perrier comes in glass bottle - bad for environment. Buy stuff based on utility. I tend to lose watch - so buy cheap one. Don’t know brand names, to be honest. Perrier popped in mind the other day!
