Guys and gals, im an avid reader of this site and have been for a year or so. Ive just never got round to putting a message or replying… cus that is jus me. takes too much effort.
Anyway, to the point.
Ive just been booted out at the end of 2nd year med school. Why… ? god knows.
My options are
a) to stay in the UK, and do any other deg. cannot do med as no medschool takes anyone booted 4rom a med school. simple. My option at the mo. is then to aim for investment banking etc, go towards that line… now which degree course should I do??
b)Continue Med in a medschool abroad. I know my stuff, (1st year/2nd year and have passed by OSCE’s. (we were forced to do them in summer of 1st year). Also ive passed my clinical examination module.. The only thing I have not done is pharmacology, and a few social sciences. that i was supposed to do in the 3rd year then for the rest of the year we do clinical rotations.
I can try PK, or if you know any other medschool, i would be gratefull. Now the question is… will i be able to start from 3rd year med school in PK, a if theyve done some modules i havnt, i can take those exams alongside. Is it possible…? or will i have to start from scratch. in PK.
Any other relevent info will be much appreciated…!!
sorry if i am replying late but i just saw ur message.
The thing is where do u want to continue ur education,if Pak is an option then go for it,i am positive u will get an admission there, there r so many private colleges there who would consider this because in any othe gov med schools u would have to start from the beginning. Infact i know someone who runs a very good acredited med school in Lahore so if ur interested i can get their email or number for u and u can check it with them, would have done it for u myself but i am very very busy these days,so lemme know if u want the number.Infact the best thing would be to get in touch with as many schools as possible and check it out ,but dont waste any time!
ouuuchhh
“Ive just been booted out at the end of 2nd year med school. Why… ? god knows.”
hunnnhhhh … sounds like case for a good law suit
Any how, I know of few med schools in carribean that might give you a good option. The reason I would recommend those over Pak based is that they have affiliations with US schools and some of them will send you to US for your residency. At the end your education is accrediated and accepted in the US.
I think one of those schools is called “American University of the Carribean, School of medicine” and there’s another one in Belize, can’t remember its name.
I guess if cost is not one of your concerns, then you should be able to find a school where you can transfer your education.
Good Luck
PS: You can always transfer to humdard univesity and become a hakeem.
1) you went into medicine becausde you like dit, so why make a change?
conversely
2) you went into medicine but fluynked out so maybe its not your calling and you should do something else
if #1 is teh case then you can go to Pakistan or carribean to complete your med degree as people suggested
if #2 is the case then figure out where your interets and aptitude is and get into that program, whether it is investment banking, law, psychology or whatever it may be.
Boston
I am sure you are confusing hamdard university with something else.
arey yaar .. the only thing that I remember about hamdard was that they used to have a network of hakeems that provided cheap herbal medicine to poor folks. I do remember that me and my sister used to go down to hamdard office, I think it was in Nazimabad N0 4, Karachi. Hamdard used to publish a childrens magazine called Nonehal. Because we could not afford to by it, they allowed us to sit there and read. And every once in a while they will give a copy of an old magazine, that felt like as if it was eid. Anyhow, that's the only hamdard memory that I had. I think same hamdard has a university also. I could be wrong.
yes they are the same hamdard organization. Hakeem Mohammad Saeed operated Hamdard as a not for profit entity. Hamdard university was established not too long ago. I helped do some research for Hakeem saheb when they were developing the curriculum for various programs. The university teaches subjects such as business and technology.
This is so cool ... wow ... this is what you call progress, this what you call public service .. .. I loved his nonehal books and now instead of donating to my almata, I'll donate to humdard ... awesome
Just learned that Hakeem Mohammad Saeed of Humdard was assasinated back in March. Not even angels are safe in Pakistan … how sad … my Allah bless his soul … Amen
I am related to Hakeem Saeed, and had the opportunity to meet with him and talk to him often while growing up when i visited Pakistan. he truly was a forward lookign and selfless man.
His assassination news were a shock to the entire family. He was assassinated on October 17th, 1998.
want to know why such a kind and gentle scholar was killed?
I am so sorry to read about his tragic death. It is very unfortunate that in a country where roles models are so hard to find, what happens to a true hero. What was also sad, was that I found an article in DAWN, which suggested that his assasination was related to a layoff of 200 employees at hamdard labs. It was also suggested that MQM was a prt of assasination. It did not mention anything about the foreign currency, etc. I guess our journalism is as corrupt as our politician.
