I dont want my mind to be limited to practising whatever that is written in a book, be it religious or otherwise. However, yes, there are instances where idol worship is not “recommended” or abhored in “Hindu” texts. But again there are instances where it is supported as well. Conclusion is there is a contradiction, which i only attribute it to corruption of those scriptures. i think there were many texts written later or even added to already existing earlier quotes in scriptures, which started supporting idol worship or polytheism. This is my personal opinion.
