Which one do you think is worse?
Would you be friends with a person who brags and shows-off but other than that is a great friend and a good human being? And again would you be friends with a person who lies habitually but is a good friend otherwise?

How can you say that someone who brags and shows off is a good human being? Those 2 characteristics go against the definition of good, no? I think people always prefer humility.
However, people can be great at charities, public service, be great daughters, sons, spouses, parents, etc…but if they aren’t humble about it, what’s the point of all that greatness? Just a thought.
Of course lying is a bad thing :(. Unfortunately we (at least some of us) are guilty of both to some extent. :hinna:

Niksik, unfortunately I come across a lot of females who keep bragging about their designer handbags, sunglasses, shoes and what-not, but other than that are fun to hang out with and nice girls when it comes to being friends … even helping out when needed. 90% of the people I come across these days are like that :hinna:.

Bragging in the company of close friends should be OK , I guess, it can be called being proud of something you have .
Bragging is done to impress people who do not know you. Being proud of your achievements for the purpose of sharing with friends should be fine. No ?

I wouldn't be able to stand either kind. If I HAD to choose for a small period of time, it'd probably be the braggers. But then you'd know when they are bragging, whereas, you wouldn't when they're lying (if you're not spending a lot of time with them).

Bragging is forgiveable.. there are many that brag but in the reality of things.. u can “ignore” this trait as a weakness in character.. but lying can not be forgiven so easily.. white lies fine but lying about important matters is a no no… :nono:

Its perfectly acceptable to brag about ones accomplishments and other goods things that happen only if its in a non-obnoxious manner. For some people its a way to discover themselves and others its about pride in ones achievements and success stories which they share with family and friends.
So bragging is good but when used with caution.
Lying is NEVER good.
