Any just wanted to let you know before you start boycotting Nike! Nike is the biggest buyer of Sports equipment from the Sialkot sports cottage industries, especailly soccer balls! Despite of strict Scanction on Pakistan due to child labour!

Was'nt this a very old matter? Or is it new. It happened a few years ago also and after that they took those shoes off from the stores with an apology from the muslims.

About two years ago, Nike came up with a new shoe and emblazoned the rear edge of its sole with the word 'Air' written in what looks like flames. The only problem was that the lines made the word look like Arabic script for the word Allah, and many Muslims objected. Under threat of a worldwide boycott of its products by 1 billion Muslims, Nike recalled more than 38,000 pairs of the offending shoes last year. Now, working with the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Oregon-based Nike is building playgrounds at the Falls Church Islamic Center, as well as other centers on the West coast and in Michigan. Yesterday about 80 children were at the center, using packs of new crayons and shiny sheets of white paper to give Nike some ideas about what they'd like on their playground. What had previously been an acrimonious breech between Nike and many Muslims evaporated in an atmosphere of accord. Council leaders welcomed the playground and said they have accepted Nike's solution to the problem.
