I am a total newbie to weights (and I’m a girl). Some of the arm exercises I wanted to do have weights in them so I bought a pair. I dont want to pull a muscle or do permanent damage but I don’t think they’re that heavy. Any tips?
Re: Bought a pair of 2kg weights. Now what?
Don't worry with 2kg weights, the chance of pulling your muscles is minimum. I lift 10lbs, sometimes 15lbs regularly and so far never had a problem. Start out with 6-10 reps of any exercise your are doing and once you get used to that, slowly increase the reps.

Convert them to grams to get 3 orders of magnitude improvement.

Invest in a doorway pull up bar. It’s an awesome piece of equipment that’s going to give you one hell of a workout.

Thanks. I'll be honest it's less heavier than my laptop bag but the dude was insistent it was good for beginners. Now the difficult part it to set up a routine. They won't do me good sitting in the cupboard.

At least the cupboard would do some "not so heavy" lifting.
