I understand the choices were not that great too. I have been a supporter of Congress all my life. This election I could not get myself to vote for the Congress. Hopeless leadership and not willing to understand common man's problem. Modi on the other hand crafted a very good campaign focusing on development initially and then changing to religion in the last phase..
The problem here is that there is nobody to question Modi.. He has made sure that no other leader of stature exists in the party today. He has a free hand to do what he wants and hopefully he will do the country good.

A 10-year tenure was itself a huge excess political baggage for Congress with which it went into elections. Manmohan Singh appeared to be an inactive and uncharismatic leader who hardly had any say in any matter, including his own territory, finance. Rahul Gandhi also does not seem to have the appeal this father had. At best, he seems to be a man from a lost generation who is in search of himself. Unless BJP does something horrifically wrong, I do not see Modi sarkar going anywhere before a decade in office. Congress and Rahul, in the meantime, will need to rediscover themselves to pose any challenge to BJP. For all practical purposes, India seems to have become a two-party system with no third viable alternative.

The old fashioned dynasty politics, i.e glorifying family tragedies and brand-ing (the word keeps getting censored without hyphen?) it sacramental martyrdom to manipulate people's memories and intellect is standing on its legs in South Asia, if not dead already. Both Pakistan and India have made powerful statement of rejection of grave politics with their vote. Bangladesh also tried, and unfortunately failed. But the anti dynasty politics sentiments are eagerly simmering beneath the surface.
Bhutto family is a goner in Pakistan. The revenge rhetoric is not going to work anymore, but more importantly, Zardari has effectively invalidated any trace of romance non-Sindhis had held with Bhuttos. Besides, the PPP played its cards tragically wrong by pushing a fundamentally apolitical and disinterested Bilawal - who lacks both aim and reason at personal level to excel in politics. The same could be said about Rahul Gandhi. But I wouldn't write off Congress, the Sonia-Rahul and Priyanka trio won't give up that easily. In fact I think Priyanka Gandhi may just be able to save Congress' sinking ship.

Don’t count out PPP either as it could easily come to power minus the bhutto romance. Sindh is in their pockets, by hook or by crook,and they just have to bag enough in southern punjab and perhaps kp to get a govt. MQM, ANP and the other likeminded would join to form a coalition.
What PTI wanted to do, though penti puncture gave it to PML-n 
, is the hard thing to do.

We the un-educated Asians are still away from the real democracy , India is coming out of this due to the continuous 67 years of democracy , We are more backward due army rule and their puppets , We have small chances so this is a way forward for us .
