Boston, Massachusetts

What’s there to do? Places to eat? I’ll be there for about 3-4 days, staying in downtown Boston.

I’ve heard about the Freedom Trail…museums I’m not interested in as we have plenty in our city.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Boston, Massachusetts

nothing much to do in Boston.. it's soooo small :p

jokes aside, who about the aquarium? walk/bike at charles river? If you like malls etc check our Prudential mall, copley place! but if you want to do somethig fun, you will have to venture out a bit from the city.. go to Plymouth for whale watching, to see the rock, may flower, plantation etc!!

Places to eat.. there are just two places that I eat at in Boston.. Cheesecake factory, and Shawarma King (Beacon Street and it's halal) It's pretty much a hole in the wall kinda place but their shawarma is GOOD!!

shoot i forgot I have ameeting at 10:30... will write more later!!

Re: Boston, Massachusetts

Thanks Gia!! Will definitely check out the shawarma place :--)

Re: Boston, Massachusetts

grrr I saw this again now.. so sorry.. my brain isnt functioning properly these days :$

so are you in Boston for work or fun? Do you have time for duck tour in Boston?

I have never been to Boston for fun since there really isnt much to do for fun except museums/ freedom trail that you dont wantto do anyway!

if you have a company, walk/window shopping at the newbury street can be fun too.

I am only 2 hours from there.. come see me!!! ;)

Re: Boston, Massachusetts

I’m going for work/conference. I would love to come visit, but I know your nearly full term, and schedule is tight, so next time insha’Allah!

Re: Boston, Massachusetts

Dont take the duck tour, it was disappointing.

Re: Boston, Massachusetts

i do think you should go to salem for witch related stuff or rockport for a pretty seaside visit. Would you have time to do a whale watching excursion? I think tours run out by the new england aquarium as well.

Re: Boston, Massachusetts

Aquarium isnt that good either, Aquarium in Dubai is much much better.

Re: Boston, Massachusetts

So I'm back from Boston. We didn't end up venturing out of Boston due to shortage of time. I love how the city is manageable, and you can get from one end to the other in 10/15 mins. We did the freedom trail, whale watching, charles river, harvard square, etc. Also, Boston Commons is a great park with community events on the weekends...our hotel was right by the park so it was lovely to take walks in the evening.

Food was lovely, and I enjoyed every place we ate at:

Paramount Cafe - definitely recommend it for breakfast/brunch options

McCormick & Schmicks - great seafood

Papagayo - for mexican food - awesome tableside guacamole, and my order of tilapia fajitas was really good

Shawarma King - on Beacon street had awesome food. I had lamb stew dinner plate, the portions were huge. Chicken shawarma was great too.

Punjabi Dhaba - in cambridge, the place wasn't the cleanest, but parathas were good. It's very popular amongst the student crowd there.

House of Siam - Thai food...Chili shrimp were delicious, as was the pad thai.

Finale - apparently THE place in Boston for dessert. We had a dessert sampler with 9 different things, and ended up loving their creme brulee and their cheese cake. We went again the following day just for creme brulee.

Re: Boston, Massachusetts

Sorry i am using your thread Sehar, but if anyone can tell me, how is Springfield, MA, place for living? Living short term, say two yrs. Is Halal food easily available, how is the shopping there? Housing rent etc?

Re: Boston, Massachusetts

woww Sahar.. you have eaten at more places than I ever did in Boston and I live here :D

Fairy Tale.. Springfield.. BIG NO!!!why are you planning to live there? family? college? your better options are west springfield, westfield, or even Enfield in CT etc.. I will not suggest Holyoke or Springfield to anyone!the crime rate is high, the neighborhood is filthy.. just not our cup of tea!

If you will like more specific infromation, PM me!!

Re: Boston, Massachusetts

^ oh very bad. :( - Yes its a college there that i like. :(

Re: Boston, Massachusetts

well you really dont have to live in Springfield per se if you are going to a college there.. like I said, West Springfield is a whole different world and it's very close to Springfield so is westfield!

Are you looking at AIC or WNEU? mostly colleges are in Amherst area, such as UMass, Mount Holyoke, Smith, Amherst College, and Hampshire.. and thats where usually international students go! welll, good luck and like I said if you have any specific questions, let me know!

Re: Boston, Massachusetts

^ great info thank you so much. Yes it is AIC. How far is West Springfield and Westfield? 10-15 mins drive?
