Is it impossible to have real life lawyers who are similar to the laywers in Boston Legal and Ally Mcbeal?
Any wacky lawyers? Or would the court system prevent that in real life?

Hood I'm moving your thread to All Views as it will get a better response here !
Re: Boston Legal and Ally Mcbeal
I would say that these dramas do not represent the harsh reality of the legal field. Having worked in law firms and studied law, I would have to say maybe 2% of what happens on the TV translates into reality. The only thing which does occur is a lot of background politics, which I guess is true to say of most workplaces.
Time equates to money. People would rather than frolic around having affairs, long lunches etc, go home at the end of a hard day and rest.
You do get the odd wacky/eccentric lawyer- I have come across a few myself but not in the way Ally McBeal was. The court system promotes conformity and adherence to its age-old values and traditions. There is no room for one to be a court jester!
Re: Boston Legal and Ally Mcbeal
One of my best friends is in commercial law and he's one of the funniest ppl I've ever met. He's the stereotypical 'old money' public schoolboy, really eccentric and we just laugh at the most random things that normal ppl would never find funny. His personality kinda reminds me of that bloke from Ally McBeal who had the strange fetish.. I miss Ally McBeal, how sad was it when Billy died..
