I wanted to ask if anyone that is from Boston can tell me of any safe/reasonable apartments near Coolidge Corner/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Brookline)?? I have never been to Boston before and will be staying there in that area for some time… I dont know where to look or who to ask for suggestions as I dont know anyone from there. So I want YOUR suggestions please! Thanks a bunch.
I am originally from Boston and I can tell you first-hand that Coolidge Corner is a WONDERFUL place. It is clean, safe, one of the best places in Brookline. Have you already found a place in Brookline? Although CC is a great place, it's not at all near Beth Israel, and there is no direct train that will take you from CC to Beth Is. You would need to either drive or take a bus, and I don't even think there's a direct bus either. Why don't you PM me the details of whereabouts you'll be staying and exactly what info you are looking for, and I will try to help you out as best I can.
It's not letting me send a PM. I have to have atleast 25 posts on this website, which I dont have. But basically, I haven't found a place in Brookline, I'm in search of an apt in a safe place near BIDMC. If you have any good suggestions, that would be really appreciated!! Take care.
To be honest, you don't have to get an apartment in Boston exactly. I live just outside of the city, and it's an easy 10 minute drive. I'm pretty sure there are public buses that go there.
The only place not so safe near Boston is Dorchester… Else you can live in Cambridge,Boston,Sommerville and even Quincy. Quincy is rather outside of Boston. but it has easy access to Boston through T service.
I know a Pakistani uncle who rents his apartment to groups or singles also.. am not sure if he is still doing the same thing. but I can find that out…
I forgot about the 25 posts rule. Ok, tell me some more specifics so I can give you more accurate suggestions. Will you be driving or taking public transportation, this is very important because, as I said, Beth Israel is reachable only by bus and the D train (which happens to be a ways off too). Thus if you’re relying on public transport, CC is bad, brookline village is good. Are you looking for short-term rental (3-9 months) or long-term (1-yr lease)? www.craigslist.org, is also good, i’ve often found my apartments through this site. used in conjunction with google maps, will give you good idea of how far you will be from your workplace.
Hola CoolBreeze! Alas, I am no longer in Boston, though I grew up there and my heart is always there. Of course it also helps that my family is still there and I go there every other month! But I gotta say... I don't miss the snow and winter! :D
coool breeze - Hey thanks for telling me about that link, I looked at some places. Yeah if you could please get me the paki uncle's contact info please? I'll see if anything is available there also. You can get back to me at my email address also which i just listed up.
It's so hard to find a place to stay when you are so far away... but inshaAllah, lets see..
If you are still looking to buy or rent a condo in Boston or nearby then use lrgboston.com, a fast site that will show the current listing of properties in the area you search for. The home page of the site gives you good tools to work with wherein you can put your budget and get the property listings that suits your lifestyle. The site also includes pictures of all the properties that you see in there. Good Luck!
