One word: heartbreaking.
A woman on a mission ventures out into the red light districts of Calcutta to photograph and document the female sex workers there, and instead falls in love with the kids that reside within. The kids call her Zana Auntie. She is not a social worker, nor is she a teacher. Yet she takes on the role of both in the most amazing manner.
This is the documentary about a group of kids that are in ‘Zana Aunties’ photography class. I’m not going to give out much of what events unfold in this real life documentary but some facts will break your heart and some will just leave you with the widest smile ever. How insignificantly small efforts can snowball to make such big differences, you will witness in this documentary.
The ending sort of leaves you wondering though. Maybe there could have been a few other unexplored alternatives. But the effort still has to be commended. This movie has won an Oscar and about 12-14 other nominations.
I have made this docu available online for guppies only. You can download it in VCD Quality AVI (695 MB), or 256 KBPS WMV (133 MB). If you use Bittorrent you can also download the AVI file using the torrent file (i’ll be seeding it for a few days).
