Boring Cities - Big & Small

I was just thinking the other day about all the cities I’ve been to. Surprisingly enough, despite being in Canada, I’ve travelled my fair share to some small and big cities in the U.S. where I’ve been bored to no end.

Here goes the list… oh and BTW please don’t be offerended if your city is in the list - this is just personal opnion based on a few days visit to each city.

#1 on my list is Crawfordsville, IN… small town - one of the worst experiences being there, and if you don’t own a car, there’s little you can do to get out of the city - minimal bus and train service. What was I doing there? visiting a friend who went to college there. Apparently, the college is consistently in the top 10 list in the U.S. (Forbes) but it is only one of four all-mens liberal arts colleges. Need I say more?

#2 on my list is Milwaukee, WI… a relatively bigger city, but the downtown still looks like a suburb with industrial streetscape. Went there for a conference and don’t aspire to go again.

#3 on my list is Memphis, TN… the city caters well to those who’re into clubbing or those who’re into Museums. Little to do for people in the middle like me. Went there for a conference and not going back unless I really have to. Ohh did I mention the city is crime ridden… Walking downtown is like dodging through the freaks. You need a partner to walk with.

I have a couple of more on the list but wanted to see what cities made it to your list. Share…

Re: Boring Cities - Big & Small

I would put all of suburban Canada in my list. Ok, no change Canada and add all of North America instead.

^^ :rotfl:

Re: Boring Cities - Big & Small

My home town a winner hands down.

Re: Boring Cities - Big & Small

Richmond, VA - nice to live in but awfully boring to visit.

Re: Boring Cities - Big & Small

Indianapolis, IN (yawn)

Re: Boring Cities - Big & Small

Toronto- I like that it's clean and I even liked some of the restaurants but if you like outdoors and entertainment they only seem to have Niagara Falls. I wasn't thrilled with downtown either. No offense to torontorians but I found it to be a very boring city!

Detroit - Yup, I was dissapointed BIG TIME! Very boring!

I agree I worked there for 9 months , over the weekends I would drive down to Chicago and spend the whole weekend there .

Re: Boring Cities - Big & Small

Mirch - my cousin did the same thing - he was so bored - he would even eat Friday dinners in Chicago.

Re: Boring Cities - Big & Small

I never knew how boring Detroit was until I lived in other cities

I agree and I am Torontonian.

Ok that is just so wrong. There is tons to do in Toronto, entertainment-wise and outdoors! In all seasons of the year! I bet you didn't do your homework before coming. Just check the tourist websites and you'll find there's always something going on!

Here's my addition to the thread:

Fargo, ND: need I say more???

Cantkrs: cmon!!! represent!!!

Yep, we used to drive down after Namaz a Juma to Chicago and leave at 6 in the morning on Monday for Indianapolis.

How can I, when I am buried under tons of snow! :)

LOLLL so am I!!! sigh when will we stop getting walloped? Woe are us :(

I am not very hopeful! In fact I am sure this year will be like last one, with a wet, soggy summer. Mark my words! :crying:

I meant no offense! I have been there many times coz I have a lot of relatives there. They tell me the place there worth seeing is Niagara.

Why don't you list some attractions that you really enjoyed? other than Niagara Falls and CN Tower.

No one cares about the Dakotas, not even Americans. So this isn’t surprising!

Oh ho: none taken! so don't worry.

I think I will list some attractions I really enjoy:

Harbourfront: lurrrrvveee it! how can you not? it's near the water!

Eaton Centre: all the best shops in one spot!

ROM: Royal Ontario Museum: now there's a huge chunk of crystal that serves as the front facade of the building, awesome!

AGO: Art Gallery of Ontario: best place to oggle over smashing pieces of art

The summer brings a season of festivals celebrating all sorts of cultures, art, music, food, the list goes on and on!
