some great suggestions above..and i'll re-state it again... change ur routine, change the machines you workout on...i.e: if u use treadmill as a cardio exercise..dont use that..instead go to a park and run there...
umm...update your iPod lol.. and dont give up hope.. working out is just not about achieving what you want and thats it...you still needs to workout to maintain what u've gotten so far...
Dont workout every single day..that sure wud be very boring... do it 3/4 times a week but intensely..since u didnt mention ur goal ..just keep doing what u are.. and why cant those 5lbs that u gained be muscles?..if they're not muscles and u've been working out the proper way all this time.. then there something wrong with ur diet.. check that.
Get urself a workout partner that has same goals as you.
Take supplement if u're not getting any kind of positive results.
make yourself a great workout schedule and know what u shud be working on the day of our workout..
Dont be negative.
and the best one that actually worked for me a couple of yrz ago was..i told everyone that i m going to start working out and i cant wait to see results.. trust me...try it. Tell everyone that you know that u'll be starting a new exercise program and u cant wait to see results...Just the thought of failing in front of them should be more than enough for you to quit working out..and later on, they'll start asking how you actually achieved it..
You need to figure out what works for you when it comes to staying motivated for longer than a month or two...emotions motivate us to want to do things. We feel the need to do certain things or accomplish certain goals. Some of the things that i will mention below are emotional triggers that will make u remember why u're doing all this in the first place...
hmm..some of the things coming in my mind right now that worked for me and some of my buddies are...
Print out whose ever physique you admire the most and paste it in ur bathroom, car ..where ever you go often..and just look at him before u try to skip a workout day.
Summer is already here and we all will be going to beaches , swimming pool etc...just think about it.. wont you feel great when u take off ur shirt, everybody's starring at you?...Think about it man..dont just read this and go on..take a minute to make a detailed picture and make it last for a few minutes...it will feel great to take shirt off knowing you have something to show and make others jealous of.
Some of us were not born big. Some of us are actually pretty puny naturally. Don't you hate the fact that everybody thinks they can kick your ass? Yes, I know this is immature and doesn't really matter but let's be realistic. If you are a guy, this is one of the worst insults to your manhood...We all know people who just act like they are better because they are buffer or more ripped. Some of these people simply have good genetics and have no reason to feel all high and mighty. You eat one Snickers bar and gain 10 pounds while this person eats fattening crap all day long and still doesn't gain an ounce of fat...Ugh! ! ! ! !...How will they feel when they realize that you are bigger and more defined than they are? Laughing in these people's faces will be a new favorite pasttime of yours. Write a list of people like this in your life and keep it closeby. Do it now! hehe..
Lets face it yaar.. the number one reason why people join any exercise program is to impress the opposite gender.. no matter how much we refuse this fact...it will and always will remain a fact... so plez.. if nothing else is motivating you..im sure good looking girls will make u wanna workout harder :P..lol.. trust me..when any girl will come to you just to feel ur bicep..ull know that every ounce of sweat and pain was worth it... :)
well..i try to write what actually worked for me and for some of my buddies... try to do those things..you wont ever feel like quiting. Good Luck!
Some of the suggestions are really good...aaa for GUYS:D
...but my main goal was just toning and maybe lose 3-5 pounds..but instead I gained 5..and Im bored...bored of trying to act like a robot ..same thing over and over again...
I got me a new bike just today...it has real wheels..that actually work instead of the gym ones:D
