books on our culture

ive read quite a few books by desi authors who have potrayed what the east is like to the west (Broken Bangles, White Teeth, De-arranged Marriage, Brick Lane etc)

none of these books potray positive attitudes about our culture. The men are always bad, the women going astray

are there any books that reflect the goodness of our homeland and people?

yes sadzz I know a couple of really nice books that portray positive attitudes about our culture (hard to find such books these days ) as soon as I get home I will post the list :)

thanx heaps mahnoor :flower2:

id really love to raed them… sort of tired of reading about abusive husbands and women who dont have a choice..

now read about “cheating wives and men who dont have a choice…”

no seriously, there sure is a shortage of positive attitude books not just in our culture but everywhere. writers just tend to portray that society is just at its worst, no one writes about the positive stuff…that makes me wonder if i have ever even read a positive book…

I just finished reading 'My Feudal Lord'. It was a good read but you have to be clued on on pakistan politics to fully understand it.

An Absolutely Fab book, nice!

^yeah.
the writer Tehmina has done a great job exposing one of our countries biggest parasites G M Khar.
the word Khar if pronounced "Khkharr" as in 'Khargosh' (rabbit) and not the way Khar's surname is pronounced, means 'Donkey" in persian.
just a fact! ;)

Thanks for clearing that up Haris, I always wondered how come he never changed his name but I guess being called a rabbit isn't as bad as being called a donkey.
