Interesting read… Its strange to know that number of people visiting libraries for donating books are more than person visiting libraries for reading books.
People will think 100 times for donating anything related to their deceased ones, but books possessed by their elders are the first thing to be disposed of wither by donating or giving them to raddi wala.
i thought so because i see the change in the trend now...
...i think it won't be too long before libraries will disappear due to internet. less and less people head out to libraries with kids on Saturdays anymore.
...libraries are now short on fundings by the government and it's hard for them to buy new books as the price of print material is skyrocketing.
I have to agree. Less and less people are using libraries for the actual reading/researching. And more are going to libraries for the wifi / quiet place to do homework. Books have lost their due respect which is why most teenagers fail to produce well structured sentences [be it in any language].
There's so much text that is yet to be transferred to the internet. It'll take a while before libraries start disappearing completely.
