How far ahead do i need to book a place for wedding and valeema in the Tri-state area? How about in the DC metropolitan area?

Re: Booking a location in NY, NJ, or CT
for CT, if you have shortlisted the places you want, i suggest you call them ATLEAST 6-9 months before because they fill up pretty fast. at my time, i started calling up places in january for my june wedding and since everything was booked, i had to have the wedding on sunday instead of saturday.
Re: Booking a location in NY, NJ, or CT
from wut i know in NJ u have to book a place at least 6 months before the event for a decent place but if ure looking for not too fancy medium size and a desi hall, 4 months before the event is the latest. someone i know tht just got married on a short notice (feb. 09) booked 4 months before the wedding and set the baarat a week before the valima bc of the fact tht they couldnt find a hall on 2 consecutive days but 4 months max i would suggest especially depending on wut mo. and day u choose i doubt tht someone would get luck finding a decent hall at this time or within the next coming months bc its wedding season now and will be very difficult to find a decent hall on the date u choose but its still worth a shot NJ has loads of wedding halls.
Re: Booking a location in NY, NJ, or CT
I'm getting married in NJ and I started looking in late dec. early jan for a late july wedding. I wasn't interested in a hotel hall (which i think are easier to find and readily available) i wanted a wedding hall or country club and those were mostly booked since summer is the wedding season here. A couple of places I called actually asked if I was looking for July 2009 or 2010, b/c they said they get booked at least a year in advance.
I fell in love with the place I booked for my wedding but they had every single sat. booked until Nov. But since I really really loved it I booked it for a sun.
You should give yourself at least 9 months. That way you'll have more options b/c not all of them will be booked.

How much do you think a deposit will be for a decent place?
Re: Booking a location in NY, NJ, or CT
its usually a minimal amount to book- we put down $200, i remember. i can't imagine it being even as high as 50%. and remember, most deposits are non refundable, so be careful what you put down!
Re: Booking a location in NY, NJ, or CT
hmmmm... how much do you think it would cost to book a nice hall?
$1,500 for deposit usually
