Re: Booker prize winner Indian Arundhati Roy calls Indians economic success a lie
Dude, you fell into the trap there. You cant critisize Indians for denouncing human rights activist Roy, while doing the same yourself of Jahangir.
Now,I would suspect she visits India because she is an advocate for peace, and going to India to meet actual Indians, would serve this end. They put her under house arrest in 2007, and in Pakistan, that only happens to people the ruling class doesnt like.
And just because you come from a particular class, doesn’t mean you endorse what that class has come to stand for. That’s like saying all people with the surname “Malik” must endorse feudalism.
Its not what your background is that determines your character, its your actions. And I suspect her actions are impressive considering Time Magazine counted her among their “Asian Heroes.”

Lets show a little respect here. How many people do you know in Pakistan who advocate for minorities, disappeared prisoners, and abused women?
When the rest of her “Class” are content with sipping imported liguors and paying lip service to the victims of their policies, she has actually gone out of her way to stand up for the victims and actually took on those among her own class.
