I have piles of books. some that I will try to never part with, others i have read and dont think I will reread really, not that they were bad but I am done with them

was thinkign this way rather than books sitting colelcting dust, They can be passed on like on bookcrossing, or i can use them to get books I want to read, and then trade them on etc.

Re: book trading sites

so no one has used any of these sites?

Re: book trading sites

I love bookcrossing, but it is probably not what you are looking for. Basically you "free" the book, and then track it around the world. They have some interesting discussion forums. My kids love this site. We've both released and caught some great books.

Bookcart is closed, but Bookins is a good site. My husband has found some fairly up-to-date project management books from this site. You pay a flat postage fee per book. There are some other sites that only charge the actual postage cost, but I have never used them.

Re: book trading sites

amana i have some books that I will free :)
others I will trade. is teh flat fee low enough that is makes sense? would be a little crappy if I can buy a paperback for 7 bucks and spend 5 bucks on shipping

Re: book trading sites

haarami_books.com

Re: book trading sites

I look at it this way - I am only paying shipping, not a flat free, and basically getting a free book at bookins. I earn points by listing books that I have to trade. When your twins are a little older, they'll enjoy bookcrossing as well. Even my youngest likes to log on and see where her books have been.

Re: book trading sites

Ohhh, I like this. Never thought of looking for sites like these. Probably because there's always tons of stuff to read already. This looks like a good way to empty out some shelf space. Not sure whether to go for the "pay as u get", or "pay as u send" type tho.

Re: book trading sites

tofibaba i started thinking about itwhen i picked up a book on NY times best seller list and did not really like it, I wish i could get my money back :) but this way I can get rid of it and get some other book I want to read. I have noxes full of paperbacks that I will probably not read again, if i can use those to get books that I want to read..why not.

I am going to investigate and get on one of these.

Re: book trading sites

What kinda books do u read? I'm sure i can "free up" some titles from my shelf. I've been collecting books by Gabriel Garcia Marquez lately, and noticed a few of those websites had lots of them.

Re: book trading sites

:)

Re: book trading sites

i wait for their movies :hehe:

Re: book trading sites

Generally I don't like the movies based on books as I don't feel like they're a good representation. I do, however, love books made into mini-series, like some of the Sidney Sheldon ones.

Re: book trading sites

sci fi, history, biographies, and business books.

Re: book trading sites

thanks so much for this thread..had heard about these sites but forgot the name. never used them and unfortunatly since i'm now in Dubai....not much trading i can do.

i also like the applications on facebook/sites that show you what other friend are reading...it's nice for ideas. what i miss most about the US is libraries...i read alot but hate making a committment to buy a book unless i really like it since i rarely re-read.
