How do you perceive and treat your year-end or performance bonus?
Do you expect to earn a set amount as part of your compensation package and do you budget/spend according to how much *you think *you are going to get (meaning do you pre-spend it) or do you treat it as an unexpected extra at the end of the year, where the amount can vary (with recent years of market downturn some employers have cut back on bonuses, so getting a smaller amount is not a reflection on an individual’s capability and contribution, rather it’s external factors).

Since I rarely get it I don't count it in my budget calculations.
