How comfortable would you be to take up a bonus based earning role? like, you get paid a very basic pay as salary and then you are given targets and you can earn as much as you can depending on how many targets you touch.
Thoughts?
Have to first look at the upside compared to other opportunities. After that probability of success and intangibles short and long term.
I had to recently go through the exact scenario, multiple offers and of the couple I shortlisted the max upside on the higher bonus percentage role was $10K more than the Max on the one with lesser bonus higher base. Evaluating the payout history as well as the goals and risks was a key part of my decision in the end.

To be honest, I get extremely nervous with a bonus based salary. Not because I dont trust my ability but because even for the very best out there, there will be months when one faces target pressure. I would feel more comfortable with a strong basic salary and lesser bonus.
Though I have experienced both , but always felt the pressure taking away the fun element from work and increasing stress and pressure.
