Bones...

I love chewing bones…Whether they are ‘barhay ka gosht’ cooked in paaye or ‘chaampain’ done in a well fried masala curry…I love trying to get the ‘gooda’ out of the bones which makes the whole experience of eating desi dishes in desi style such a pleasure for me…

Problem is, I can’t stop eating, sucking and chewing on chicken bones too, but I do not swallow them, still I have been told so many times not to mess with chicken bones…

There’s this story that my father tells from India of this boy he knew who loved eating chicken bones too, until one day he started spewing blood in his vomit…:yukh:…Seems the splinters from the chicken bones cut open his intestines from the inside, a story I don’t really swallow…But hey, it’s my father who told me this and fathers don’t tell lies…

Then there is my uncle who told me that chickens are raised in incubators and fed genetically modified food and ‘special’ food derivatives which alters the composition of chicken meat which makes them grow three times as fast…He says eating, sucking or swallowing ‘murghi ka gooda’ is extremely conducive to cancer and I should avoid them like the plague…

Then there is this aunt who tells me never to eat chicken bones as chicken bones are used primarily in magic…So if they are, what does it have to do with me? Seems those who eat chicken bones are more susceptible to being cast a spell upon… o_0 …Now that is a story that I don’t believe…That’s the same as eating chicken meat, right?

Question is: Do you know of any valid reasons why I shouldn’t eat chicken marrow…Like I said, I don’t eat the ‘bones’ as in the white, hard casing that encircles the marrow, but I am talking about the marow…

I eat chicken almost on a daily basis btw, especially in Ramadan and even without thinking about it, I start chewing away…All these stories are taking a toll on my gourmet eatinr habits…Help…:bummer:

P.S. I hope I got the right forum as this does say health…:konfused:

I don't know how accurate it is scientifically, but I was told early on, never to chew on a chicken's bones because all the waste is kept there relatively un-digested. If you chew on it a lot, you are actually taking in the waste. It is different from goat/lamb or even beef

i havent heard any of those stories but if its any help, my dadi is 74 an she loves to eat gooda, heck she never NOT EATS the gooda (make sense??)

any correllation ?? i dont kno..
but im i dont think it would kill u.. it would take more than chiken gooda to do that lol.. KIDDIN NAAA

sheesh lajo u scurred me :bummer:

i thought u wuz talkinbout chewin human bones i almost fainted :crying:

My parents always tell me not to chew on Chicken bones cause they contain TB germs?
Any truth to that?...

As far as I know, chewing bones really is not good for your teeth.
