You know what Bombay riots was not entirely an communal riot there is an **economic **side to this, as told to me by a top builder from Bombay:

During 1993 riots there were/are many legal/illegal occupants in many properties on which these builders had there eye on, so in the shadow of riots they cleared these lucrative properties for the builders even killing few of them.

The article is well written and the author has raised a lot of valid points. But his assertion that Sanjay Dutt is paying for his father being nice to muslim during the riots points to his just plain lack of intelligence. Sanjay Dutt has himself confessed to the fact that he had in his possession an AK47. We have to understand that Sunil Dutt was a well known politician who had at his beck and call the entire state police machinery. When Sanjay Dutt got an AK47 from the thugs, in return they stored weapons and ammunition used in the blasts at his place. If that was not reason enough to convict I do not understand what is..

even though author is very correct for governmnet’s inability to control the roits, it is not going to justify what dawood did…dawood is still a runaway criminal thug and will punished to his destiny soon.

Nothing justifies killing of innocent civilians. Nothing. Be it Bombay 1992 or Gujrat 2002.

how is it that bal thakarey's shiv sena party keeps getting voted back into office?
Especially since he's so against nonmarathi people- he's said how he's against south Indians, Muslims or any non Marathi people migrating to Maharashtra.

I just want to understand the mentality of the people that vote for shiv sena party.

Ok, I see the hate mongering islamic Jehadis and I can kind of understand shiv sena's existence but what about the non marathi speaking people-why is there a prejudice against them living in maharastra? There will be no peace between different religious or cultural groups in India if these kinds of political parties(BJP and muslim league included) are in power. They just seem to divide instead of unite India. Atleast they could be a part of the solution rather than contributing more to the problems India has

This is the main problem. Both these parties feed on each other. I am not sure if these parties do have an understanding to whip communal passions to fool the common people.

Parties with religious affiliations should be banned and should be held accountable for their hate mongering

Yea, I think the mod Ravage should change the title of the thread because that is a completely false statement. The Muslims as much as the Hindus were responsible for communal tensions.

Let's do a time line of events. The Bombay riots happened in reaction to BJP/Shiv sena supporting the demolition of Babri Masjid because it was built over the location of a destroyed temple that might or might not have existed during the Mughal times right? Why did BJP open up a thousand year old wound? I wonder what had happened before this for BJP to justify doing something like this.....

I agree with sal35 and simplyme in that these religiously affiliated political parties need to be banned. They are the only ones that benefit from the communal killings, riots and hatred between Hindus and Muslims.

1/ What do you mean by opening the wounds? Wounds remain always opened when one finds Mosques in adjacent to the most sacred Hindu worshipping places.....Mathura, Krishna Birth place vs Aurangzeb Mosque, and Varanasi Kashi Temple vs Aurangzeb Mosque.

I can never understand what was the need to build Mosques at the centres of Hindu faiths.

2/ If a political party (BJP/ Shiv Sena) has taken a wrong step by demolishing a Mosque.......does it justify starting riots against Hindu community.

^1. the Rama Temple was destroyed by Muslim invaders(Babar) in the 1500s right? All i'm saying is why did BJP have to bring all of this up after 400 years. These kinds of things just give the Islamic jehadis a reason to terrorize the region even more and terrorists like Dawood(in 1993) a reason to kill hundreds of people(both Hindus and Muslims).
