Police have blamed Assamese rebels, fighting for independence from India.
Bomb explosions kill 15 in Assam
At least 15 people have been killed and about 30 others injured in two bomb blasts in India’s north-eastern state of Assam, police say. The first explosion took place in a crowded marketplace in the state’s main capital, Guwahati, killing 13 people. The second bomb went off in a stone quarry in the south of the city, killing two people. No-one has claimed responsibility, but police believed United Liberation Front of Assam rebels were behind the blasts.
