Hopefully they will get them soon."A police car was posted outside the mosque Monday, and there were several other patrol cars outside another of the targets, the 179 Deli on Hillside Ave. A police van was driving around nearby blocks and officials were asking residents to be on the lookout for a man they described as black, 5-foot-8 and driving a gray car with Virginia plates.A bodega worker said the man showed up at the store about three nights ago, tried to shoplift and threatened employees when they caught him in the act and ejected him. Police said the suspect had tried to steal milk and a Starbucks Frappuccino and that he appeared to be of Guyanese descent.The mosque was hit with a bottle bomb in a Starbucks container.The Queens arsons come as the Council on American-Islamic Relations recently called on the FBI to investigate mosque threats posted on a hate-filled blog, “Bare Naked Islam.”“Throw 10 Molotov cocktails into these mosques and burn them down,” council spokesman Ibrahim Hooper quoted one post, now removed, as saying.Gov. Cuomo, said the Jamaica incidents “go against everything we stand for as New Yorkers and Americans.”“Attacks such as this have no place in our open and inclusive society,” Cuomo said, "and we must do all we can to ensure New York remains a safe and tolerant place for all."[email protected]
