Bomb blast at Karachi Shia mosque

At least four people have been killed and 13 injured in a suicide bombing at a Shia mosque in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi, officials say.

A spokesman at the mosque said that the dead included the bomber, two accomplices and a policeman.

He said the policeman had been killed in a gun battle with the accomplices.

The mosque is located in the Gulshan area of Karachi, a city which in recent years has witnessed numerous acts of sectarian and criminal violence.

“Three people walked into the mosque and two of them started firing in the air,” mosque spokesman Shahzad Rizvi told BBC News.

‘Mayhem’

"The bomber rushed to the spot where people had gathered to pray, and the next thing we heard was a loud explosion.

“In the mayhem I heard the other two attackers begin firing.”

Mr Rizvi said that both attackers were wounded in the subsequent shoot-out with mosque guards and police before they were arrested. But police say they are now dead.

The explosion at the Mandinatul Ilm mosque, which lies in a middle class area of Karachi, comes three days after a suicide bomb in Islamabad killed 19 people and wounded nearly 100. The BBC’s Aamer Ahmed Khan in Karachi says that the latest attack coincides with the first anniversary of the death of Mufti Shamzai, a Sunni scholar* who was killed in a blast at the Hyderi mosque in Karachi. :expressionless: *

Re: Bomb blast at Karachi Shia mosque

Thank God for the police and the guards who were there to kill the the other 2 scumbags before they could set off their bombs.

But what we need to do is really crack down harder on those in Pakistan who are propagating hatred against other Muslims.

One thing that should be done is to offer a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of anyone preaching, in public or in private, that Sunnis or Shias are not Muslim or should be killed.

Once an informant provides such information, all that would be needed would be for undercover police to confirm and record that this kind of preaching was going on, before uniformed police could move in and arrest the guilty preacher.

Long prison sentences are also required to ensure that such people are locked away long enough to be unable to continue preaching their views.

Sad indeed. Allah hum sub ko hidayat de aur inn mental psychos ko unn ki sahi jagah pohncha de.

Re: Bomb blast at Karachi Shia mosque

I must appreciate the fact that there exists at least one dimension where Pakistani nation is making a remarkable progress, and i.e. "JAHALAT".

Attack on the mosque was itself a highly regrettable act, however the way our 'AWAM' has reacted is beyond my comprehension. Burning alive ppl to death, setting properties and vehicles on fire and other such inhuman activities - what does it all mean? What Pakistani AWAM is trying to prove in the end ? I think they are trying their best to prove that we are the most illiterate, stupid, fanatic, inhuman and barbareous creatures on this planet. It is indeed a matter of shame, a matter of shame for all Pakistanis as the ppl who are carrying out these acts are none other than our general AWAM, and it makes my head bend down out of embarrasment for being associated with such JAHIL nation.

Re: Bomb blast at Karachi Shia mosque

very sad indeed...jaaahil /mental ppl will never cease to exist in pakistan

Re: Bomb blast at Karachi Shia mosque

Jaish is the same outfit which has been patronized by our establishment in their private wars against Indians in Kashmir and Shia community in Pakistan. Post 9/11 these guys hv gone independent and frankly speakin they really never needed their masters and smartly used them as greedy, short sighted tyrants who u use as a condom when needed and throw it away once used.

Six charred bodies recovered from fast food restaurant in Karachi

(updated at 0515 PST) By Afzal Nadeem

KARACHI: An enraged mob of protesters have torched a restaurant located at the Neepa Chowrangi area of Karachi after the blast in the Madina-tul-Ilm mosque and six charred bodies have been recovered from the restaurant late night.

All the six bodies have completely burned to ashes. The bodies have been identified as electrician Mohammad Saleem, one sales manager, an AC technician security guard Ghulam Hussain and two other employees the names of whom have yet to be identified.

At least more then a hundred people were present in the restaurant when it was set on fire. Nearby shops and many other buildings were also damaged due to the torching of the restaurant. Many people are searching for their loved ones outside the restaurant even now. They say that their relatives who came to the restaurant have not returned to their homes even now.

Relief activities are underway and it is suspected that more damages can occur. Meanwhile the police officials who killed the attackers of the Madina-tul-Ilm mosque have been promoted while the funeral prayer of Raza Rashid Hussain the police official who was killed in the attack would be held at the police headquarters in Garden today.

Readers,
What fault was their's that they died such a horrific death? Who is to console their families? Why do we Muslims in general loose our sense justice, fairness, humanity and fear of God when we get angry with others? Is our anger justifiable in killing innocent ppl? Will these deaths be brushed under the carpet alongwith rest of the dirt pile? Will we find excuses for these events? When will we realize that it is our humanity which is dying with the death of every other brother and sister?

Re: Bomb blast at Karachi Shia mosque

Just as Pakistan must identify the source of sectarian violence and terminate it, I hope the government does not let sectarian anger become an excuse for such heinous murders as those committed at the KFC restaurant.

The government must thoroughly investigate the murders committed by the protesting mob and maybe even offer a large cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the protester or protesters who were involved in setting fire to the KFC. Those responsible must end up dancing at the end of the hangman's noose!!!

That was my favourite KFC outlet in the world, I would always try and go there whenever I'm in Pakistan. The staff there did a fine 3 pcs of spicy chicken and now they are dead, are murdered, in an utterly senseless attack.

Re: Bomb blast at Karachi Shia mosque

Jahaalat in Pakistan at an all time high. KFC, PH, McDonalds being the very first targets of an angry mob, just because they think its amreeekkkan. This is precisely why these bigots and bast#$@#s should never be allowed to come into power, I mean a few people died in the mosque attack, these people protested by burning 6 more Pakistani helpless employees working at a fast food. Thats not all, alot of gas stations were burnt too, these assholes sure know how to cause riots and disruptions.

The surviving terrorist who carried out this attack was a Jaish person. Maulana Deisel has always praised the Jaish-e-Mohammad in the past.

Re: Bomb blast at Karachi Shia mosque

No words to describe the madness...when man becomes unworthy of being called what God called His greatest creation...Pathetic...

The City has been in chaos with millions worth of assets damaged since the blast last evening...The blast killed a few, angered mobs killed another 7, burned a few buses, a dozen cars, 2 gas stations...one wonders is it baout a few bad among us or are we all alike as a nation, lacking the capacity to think, undrstand, restrain...Jaish Mohammed the organization has been behind loads of such killings all over the country, the public seems to be giving them exactly what they want. and the leaders and scholars are a joke all the way...earlier yesetrday an MMA official was dragged from a funeral procession of a colleague and murdered, his bullet riddled body found in a car. Upon the blast taking place later in the evning MMA leaders Fazl Rehman and Qazi Hussain called for strikes on Wednesday and urged the masses to protest...apparently no leader or scholar urged the masses to think and be reasonable and to remian united atleast in times of chaos and to protect each other, except perhaps a few on TV...Later it turns out the MMA leaders inclined on having strikes and protests were pressing on them not for the bomb blast and the chaos caused by it, but because of the killing of one man from their party...no mention strong enough for the dozens killed by and after the blasts since yesterday, no mention in regrets to protest over deaths of the innocent men who died merciless deaths trapped inside KFC...no words to protest over the destruction of properties and businesses, how many lives would that have ruined...? gas stations employ a lot of ppl...a car is worth a lot of money for an average Pakistani family...a bus is state property...
unimaginably countless thanks to Allah for saving those unaffected and all prayers and thoughts for those hurt, those who lost everyhting...but would never know what for...May Allah bless their families and generations to come...
within 3 days after the Bari Imam blast in islamabad, the country is on fire again...Karachi burns...as a nation we have to be united and abandon differences based on religion, sect, cast, language, province, lineage... or else be prepared to lose all and disappear into darkness...

Re: Bomb blast at Karachi Shia mosque

it was proof of his being involved in the blast

Re: Bomb blast at Karachi Shia mosque

I hope all Khi guppies are well and safe. I'd like it if all could confirm their well being and share any experiences...God bless all.

Re: Bomb blast at Karachi Shia mosque

What is the point in burning and killing a few others in anger???

Re: Bomb blast at Karachi Shia mosque

my mothers cousin was in the mosque at the time...i dont know if ppl will just stop going to mosques...our govt just needs to find ways to stop this violance

Re: Bomb blast at Karachi Shia mosque

its sad and there is no excuse for it

Re: Bomb blast at Karachi Shia mosque

This is only going to stop if some mosques of the killing party are bombed with a few dozens blown to pieces. This has become really pathetic. They should shove this kind of religion in their ass that teaches its followers to kill other. Fk this shyt.

:jhanda:

Re: Bomb blast at Karachi Shia mosque

Thanks for the comic wisdom Madhanee, but this would be the last thing Pakistan needs and the first thing enemies of the state want...Killers are just killers, religionless...
