Bollywood the Copycat!

And so is the Lollywood, no doubt.

Here is a report Bollywood’s copycat film but lets face it, we don’t need this report to tell us how unoriginal desi movies can be.

Actually this culture of copying others extends beyond the flick industry. It’s a mind set. It almost seems as if we work hard to not be original.

Re: Bollywood the Copycat!

hollywood has a lot of money and you usually have to pay big bucks to borrow or use other people's work in a movie that you make.

I'm in no way supporting copycats like sanjay gupta, mahesh bhatt as well as some other directors in bollywood that do that because I think they are purely scummy for not even admitting to it. The ones that admit it probably can't afford to pay.

I don't think Indian directors have that much money to pay for things they want to borrow and use. but they could atleast give credit to the director that had the idea first, most don't even do that.

I'm sure there are some really talented writers in India but unfortunately the bollywood directors want to take the easy way into making movies. They like to live on the edge

Re: Bollywood the Copycat!

well who cares to be honest!! but yea its sad dat dey cant cum up wid deir own stories...
nd paki drama directors r copying all styles of starplus nd zee tv dramas....from story line to make up nd locations etc etc!!

Re: Bollywood the Copycat!

Well, Sanjay Gupta did said that "I am not that kind of a director who copies and then rejects to admit it.yes i do copy."
but that shameless man doesnt even have a tint of guilt.
but then, now many movies are original ones too.
and anyways, no one really takes Bollywood seriously, itz just for those song, dance, action and romance rituals.

Re: Bollywood the Copycat!

I guess desis that buy the pirated movies aren’t really helping the issue. Isn’t it indirectly funding the underworld mafia when desis buy those movies like that and it obviously doesn’t go to the actual makers of the movies. So it’s a vicious cycle. The underworld gets the money from the pirated movies and then they control what movies bollywood produces and most of the time they prefer that the bolly directors make crappy copies of holly movies.

and it means that all of those pirated movies are funding terrorism in India and Pakistan…I never really knew about it until I read this. This whole thing is so messed up

Re: Bollywood the Copycat!

i dont really think that "copying" means anything to the makers/producers or people who watch them. all people want is entertainment, and i agree that pak/lollywood is also a huge copy cat.

Re: Bollywood the Copycat!

This is old news.
Infact, at the Filmfare Awards recently, Saif even made a joke out of it- when Shahrukh Khan said something about the writers in Hollywood being on strike, Saif said something along the lines of if you watch Bollywood movies, you can tell that those writers have been on strike since the last 40 years.
Everyone knows Bollywood copies, period.

Re: Bollywood the Copycat!

Hmm so I really hope you stopped watching Bollywood movies since you have so much negativity towards them.

Re: Bollywood the Copycat!

LOL AJ, today a friend sent me an article, the gist of it was that bollywood is pissed that the US isn't doing much in the way of enforcing anti-piracy laws and so bollywood's losing hecka lot of money. LOL... talk abt pot calling the kettle black! that was too funny... i sent this article right back to her!

Re: Bollywood the Copycat!

i guess it gives em big money..ppl in east r most likely to watch indian movies..but i haate it when they copy songs.ugh..thatss more annyoing.

Re: Bollywood the Copycat!

Uff this really annoys me about Indian films. The Desi culture is so nice, colourful and unique (well the nice things that is) and I dont understand why they dont capitalise on those things. Instead they copy Hollywood left right and centre. I mean, dont these Directors and scriptwriters have any pride in their work!!
Once in a while you get a fab film like Taare Zameen Par or...errm...or, I cant think right now..Lol

But you get my drift. Its annoying. But we still watch them...Hmmm.. :(

Re: Bollywood the Copycat!

.

Re: Bollywood the Copycat!

so what if films/songs r copied from each other.............watch/listen to them n enjoy

Re: Bollywood the Copycat!

they copy, you pay to watch. stupid filmmakers but even more stupid filmwatchers. :chai:

Re: Bollywood the Copycat!

^^ Saeein you hit the nail on the head. The world laughs at bollywood while naive Pakistanis rave ...give me ONE mainstream bollywood film [other than Lagaan -- and that was not mainstream bollywood by any means] that was critically acclaimed across the globe.

Re: Bollywood the Copycat!

^^^
i dont know if it does qualify as Bollywood, but here's one example: Pather Panchali by Satyajit Ray.
hhmm..heard the Malaysian critics were all gaga on TZP too.
