Bollywood or Lollywood?

Hi there

Is it me but, recently I have watched a couple of pakistani films, and was surprised. They have really been improved from the last time I saw them, but still feel Bollywood is better, and I even noticed that some of the ideas have been interperated into the pakistani films, I mean some of the dance movements are the same as the indian dance routines you see in hindi films. I am not trying to put down pakistani films but feel that they can improve and establish their own style.
What are your thoughts on the subject?

hI,

I haven't seen a Pakistani film for a long time, but what I do remember is a fat actress, wearing clothes of extreme bad taste, too much clown-style makeup, dancing to a song sung by that typical Noor Jehan voice.

Pakistan have always had the talent to produce classy films, MUCH better than those of Bollywood. I love Pakistani dramas, they're so classy, people who can act, great background music, etc.
Now why can't they produce films of that quality?? UNIQUE. Do they have to copy India? For a start, the name Lollywood, who came up with that??? Couldn't they be a BIT more original? Musicwise, Pakistan has a lot of talented musicians and singers, can't they do the songs for the films? The people in dramas almost always look good, can't they go for that same look??

Errmm....I think I've digressed, a bit, sorry!! :)

Hi there

I totally agree with what you have said, Pakistan should use their talented singers to come, into their film industry and sing for them, I mean what about Junaid, he is brilliant and his voice compliments that. By doing so they can really improve their music and film industry, I mean they will also have to call in a fashion designer, cause the clothes some actresses wear. Wont say no more!

Chand good topic :)

farhana
Fat actresses are out, oh well we still have a few but they are on their way out :)
You should see ‘Dupata jal raha hai’ (Resham, Arbaaz Khan), ChoRiyaaN (Momi Rana and Saima, luv the songs), Niki jai haaN (Reema, Saima), Dil to Pagal hai (Reema, Shaan and a new face, zaberdast songs, and it’s not like the indian movie at all), Nikah (Reema, Shaan), Zewar (Reema, Babar), Inteha (Meera), Ghar kab aao ge (the songs are written by Qateel Shafai, so they have to be good)

Re our films, as the actress say, no one dares to invest in risky projects, and most are not intersted in exploring new subject, still we have some very good new films and on excellant subjects, like Dupata jal raha hai, the film had only one wekness they consentrated on the first part more then the ending which needed much more time.

As for our dances, our actresses do copy Indian actresses, and they admit it too, but that’s cuz dance is not a part of our culture the way it is in India’s. Another problem that our film industry has is that they think they are making films for illiterate and backward minded ppl, hence ‘advanced’ topics may not be popular. At the same time we are making dramas for the same ppl on excellent topics, we even had a drama on HIV, which our ppl do understand, so why wouldn’t we understand our films? They need to understand that even truck drivers can use their brains and can appreciate good movies.

As for music, we are using new talent now :)you should listen to some of our new filmi songs, all of the films that I’ve mentioned have excellent songs, and all new voices.

As for looks or style, we have BG or GB or whatever, she sux but she is popular, lekin we also have many more, and film Ind. is using them, especially in new films they’ve started wearing Shalwar Qameez, which is great.

Now they have to learn that there is difference between a decent scene and a vulgar scene, and dresses as well.

made a mistake did we?

just curious what films aside from those listed have you watched...cos i'm real interested.

Hi Libra :)

Have you seen all of the mentioned movies? Also are you interested in new films or oldies?
Have you seen bulandi, Dil,
ik pagal si laRki,
pal do pal, heard the song ’sun ae mere saajna bin tere zindagi mere kis kaam ki’
There is this film – I don’t remember the name of course, but I remember the song, it’s something like ’Hua chaand chaand ke saamne’.
There are lots of new films, but I don’t remember their names lekin I’ll post the names jab mujhe yaad aa gae. :)

Are you interested in songs or films?

If you wanna give ’em a try start with dupata jal raha hai (urdu), or choRiya (punjabi). Songs are too good.

Bulandi was Reema’s first film, which in my opinion changed our industry, and then of course Anjuman’s marriage played a major role too.
:)

Hey.

Thanks for telling me those films names I will actually check them out, To be honest I prefer the songs mostly. But can you help with this request since you know the industry films quite well. This is gonna sound real stupid cos all the films have scenes like this but I only heard the song from a clip of the film and I really wanna know the name of the pakistani film. Oh yeh i really like the film Mehndi (probably botched by the spelling)!

Here goes...the guy is singing this song to this girl you only see her away from him at the start of the song. He's sitting by a fire and singing and shes on the balcony of a lodge, and then he's singing in the snow by a snow man and shes wondering by him in the snow. the only lyrics i heard was 'mera ik karm kurogi'....or something like that. I really want to know the films name. I know it's not much to go on but still if you can help..

Oye yeh film 'dupata jal raha hai' ka song hai,

Gana yooN hai 'ho sake to mera aik kaam karo, shaam ka ik peher mere naam karo..'

Resham and Arbaaz khan ki film hai :)
