Bolivia declares Israel a ‘terrorist state’

Bolivian President Evo Morales declared Israel a “terrorists state,” Wednesday, because of the ongoing offensive in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli citizens will now be required to obtain a visa before traveling to Bolivia. Previously, under a 1972 agreement, which Morales denounced for being “signed under a dictatorial regime,” Israelis could travel freely into Bolivia without having to obtain a visa, according to La Razón.

Israel is now considered a “group 3” country, meaning visa applications must be reviewed by the National Migration Administration.

“In other words we are declaring a terrorist state,” Página Siete reported Morales as saying.

“Israel does not respect the principles nor purposes of the United Nations charter nor the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,” Morales said, according to Página Siete.

Morales, an admirer of the late Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez’s Bolivarian socialism, broke off diplomatic relations with the Jewish state in 2009, and has renounced Israel’s treatment of Palestinians “a genocide.”

South America is often a popular destination for young Israelis.

Other South American countries, including Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Peru, have recalled their ambassadors from Israel in protest over the fighting in Gaza.

I'm glad to read someone had the balls to stand up to israhell and denounce them world wide.

sure they arent super powers, but their actions do matter because shunning israhell is something every country should have the courage to do. it's only voicing out that a country recognizes the difference between right and wrong.

President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela kept on saying very similar things about US until he left. Did you see it making a difference? This wont either.

The impact can only happen when its declared by European countries or North American like Canada, mexico. I just wish if I could include strong muslim countries as well but they are in coma right now so its very little chance for them to be awake.

Looks like the closer you draw to the US, the terrible you get morallly. Chile yesterday withdrew its envoy from Israel in protest.

A United Nations official broke down in tears during an interview Wednesday while talking about a deadly shelling on a school in Gaza.

A UN-run school sheltering hundreds of Palestinians was hit by Israeli shells on Tuesday, according to Palestinian officials and a UN agency. The incident left 15 people dead and approximately 90 wounded, according to Palestinian health officials. The shelling was the sixth time a UN-run school has been hit by munitions from either side of the conflict in recent weeks.

In an interview on Al Jazeera, also reported by the Washington Post, United Nations Relief and Works Agency spokesman Chris Gunness couldn’t hold back tears over the school strikes.

Director of Operations at the International Committee of the Red Cross Pierre Krähenbühl condemned the shelling, saying in part that “We have moved beyond the realm of humanitarian action alone. We are in the realm of accountability. I call on the international community to take deliberate international political action to put an immediate end to the continuing carnage.”

According to the UN Office of Humanitarian Affairs, 1,118 Palestinians have been killed in the ongoing conflict as of July 29, including 827 civilians, of whom 243 were children and 131 were women. About 56 Israelis have been killed, including 53 soldiers, two civilians and one foreign national.

Unfortunately "crying" is probably the best UN can pull against Israel but can't stand up to them, can't make stronger statements, can't even think about taking concrete steps to stop the genocide.

Brave move by Bolivia but its easier for a country that has no real links to Israhell whether this be social, economic or political.

It is nice to see South American countries taking more of a proactive approach and doing more than the Muslim world has for Palestine. Not an easy call to make knowing US hegemonic ways within the region.

I will relish the day when the BRICS become developed countries it will bring more of a balance in an ever skewed world. And the economic repercussions it will have on the US.

actually during that period all US arms aid was stopped to both sides in the land of Palestine which was a British protectorate, it was the Europeans who supplied arms to the Zionist side, Britain actually abstained in the vote for partition of Palestine.

US arms aid to Isreal started during Kennedy years.
