boiling water in stainless steel

Are you not supposed to boil eggs in stainless steel pots? I just spent a pretty penny on a new stainless steel pots and pans set and the very first time after I boiled an egg in one pot there are like all these spots on the bottom of it. Someone told me its because you arent supposed to boil water in stainless steel, is this true? What am I supposed to boil eggs in then and if you cant boil water in them, can you make rice and pasta in them :konfused:
Thanks

Re: boiling water in stainless steel

i think this is normal - they do come off.

Re: boiling water in stainless steel

How strange. I boiled an egg in my stainless steel pan this morning with no problem. Stainless steel is just like any other pan, cook anything in it!

Re: boiling water in stainless steel

Actually you should not boil in Aluminium(spell) pots, stainless steel is perfect.

Re: boiling water in stainless steel

yea, stainless steel is really good for cooking and boiling. we don't always get those spots, i think it's if we keep boiling water for sometime after it's reach boiling point. anyway, the internet tells me that they will come off with vinegar as they are most likely calcium deposits.

Re: boiling water in stainless steel

Yeah, that’s true. For cleaning stainless steel items, soak them in warm water and then rub with a cloth soaked in vinegar before rinsing thoroughly. The vinegar will break up any dirt and grease leaving with a great shine.

Re: boiling water in stainless steel

u guys use your pots and pans for cooking or for decor? ;)

Re: boiling water in stainless steel

I boil eggs in stainless steel pots

What the problem :konfused: ?

Re: boiling water in stainless steel

apparently nothing!

Re: boiling water in stainless steel

For boiling an egg, stainless steel is preferable to aluminum since aluminum is slightly toxic to the body and tends to reacts with acidic substances like vinegar, lemon juice and acidic fruits. Choose a pan with a see-through lid so that you can observe what is happening to the contents.
