Boiled Eggs

So i have been told that when you add salt to the water to boil an egg - you will be able to take the shell off easily.

Lately when i am boiling an egg - the egg cracks and the white comes out…what am i doing wrong?

I add the salt to the cold water in a pan and put the eggs in the very slowly and cook it on high heat…

Hmmm…ideas ladies?

Re: Boiled Eggs

The shell is cracking because you place the eggs in the pot before you put in water. First put some water and then gently place the eggs. Then pour some more water.

Funguy i DO add the egd to the water which is already in the pan...

As i stated in my first post...

" add the salt to the cold water in a pan and put the eggs"

Start them in cold water and add 2 teaspoons of vinegar and salt. Boil them gently for 20 minutes, drain the hot water off and then put cold water. Change the water out three times.

Re: Boiled Eggs

^ woah thats a long procedure!!! Isnt it supposed to be a quick thing?

Re: Boiled Eggs

Woah ! How difficult it is to boil egg.

Re: Boiled Eggs

Don't add salt or maybe add less salt.

Re: Boiled Eggs

20 minutes to boil an egg lol

if u drop the egg in water the air gap in the egg will be highest part of the egg, make a small pin hole in that end so the expanding air can get out, therefore the egg shell wont crack.
