Thursday, May 31, 2007

The Boeing Co.'s St. Louis unit was awarded a nearly $8.1 million order for the procurement of a Harpoon Missile Subsystem Test Set Weapon Station upgrade for the government of Pakistan, the U.S. Department of Defense said Wednesday.

The order, a modification to a previously awarded contract, includes spares, installation and training. The contract was issued by the Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Md., under the Foreign Military Sales Program.

The majority of work on the order will be performed at Boeing sites in St. Charles and St. Louis, with work also performed in Dallas; Oklahoma City; Yorba Linda and Chatsworth, Calif.; Engelwood, Colo.; Austin, Texas; and other U.S. locations.

The work is expected to be completed in January 2009.

Chicago-based Boeing Co.'s (NYSE: BA) Integrated Defense Systems unit, its largest subsidiary, is based in St. Louis and is the area’s second-largest employer.

Begs the question - is there a Pakistani working within Boeing pushing for these contracts?
