Body Piercings in Islam...

Ok now everyone knows the obvious things…boys arent allowed piercings of any kind…

But when it comes to things like navel piercings and nose rings for girls things are really vague…navel piercings seem to be ok generally…never heard why but they seem to be universally accepted…

Girls have the argument that if the belly button piercing cant be seen then its ok…again its what they say…
And on that note if its halal cos you cant see it then on the same token its halal for the woman to get her nipples or privates done…obviously if whether its seen is the criteria then these two would be ok aswell no??..

Just seems like a really vague topic…can anyone shed any light on it cos all that people seem to know is girls can wear earings and boys cant have any piercings whatsoever…

Even with the boys thing…its really vague…the argument is that boys cant wear earrings cos of imitation of women…what then of men with an eyebrow piercing cos its hardly imitating a woman is it…and even more out there…a man getting his privates done can hardly be seen as imitating woman since a woman doesnt exactly have a dingaling…

So any knowledgable brothers or sisters who can shed some light on this most vague of subjects…

Re: Body Piercings in Islam...

From the little that I know the reason why earings and nose piercing has been considered alright so far is because they are considered adornments.

I'm not sure how strong the argument is for piercing one's navel and finding it perfectly alright because it's an area that is usually covered.

From what I recall one shouldn't abuse his/her body or mutilate it.

I'm sure others would be able to shed more light on the topic.
