OK, someone I know has this really bad body odor… she doesn’t use deo because she thinks it’s not halal. I assume that she showers and all… but are there medical reasons for that? I hate to talk to her about it but I know about this deodorant issue because she said that one time at my daughter’s islamic school class when we were talking about halal/non halal products.

There are many which are halal , give a box of those ones to her. Or when you are near her put some cotton in your nostrils , if she gets the hint she will start using deo.

for medical problems, haraam is halal, and if that is medical problem with her, she should use measures to take care of that issue. And as Mirch said, their are halal products available.
and is she eating the deodorant .. what is haram deodorant btw

No .. last thing you want to do is to try to layer a bad smell with a good one . .that makes it more icky ..
its like burning agar batti to hide a very bad bathroom smell .. o man .. that is even a bigger killer than the bathroom smell by itself
ok agar batti smells gross. i cant stand it.
someone should tell this lady that safai is half your imaan and showering is important. once you notice a difference in her bathing habits, phir birthday par ittar bhi de sakte hain uke baad.

^It's brownish spots that are very scaly and can be itchy. They also spread around. You need a prescripted lotion to treat them which takes a few weeks.
After a shower, they shud dry the area.. and apply talcum powder! No haram/halal there!

Bad BO also occurs due to unhealthy diet lacking in mainly fruits and some vegetables. A person's diet reflects in his/her body smell!!

There are many many reasons for bad body odor.
Number one is lack of hygiene.
Other big reason is excessive sweating.
Many women who wear desi clothes can have bad body odor since these clothes are heavy or thick. These clothes have designs, boutique work etc. and wearing undergarments of wrong material adds to excessive sweating.
It is also common for these types of clothes/garments not to be washed.
So there U go! Wearing clothes over and over again without washing will result in bad 'body odor'.
Hope women are not offended.
There are many diseases including liver and kidney diseases, infections (skin or ear-nose infection, urinary/vaginal infections), bad breath (Helitosis)and stomach upset which can make a person smell bad.
Besides diet has a lot to do with it and some medications too.
Spicy food (specially having garlic in it) makes people sweat or smell bad!
Please buy her a good deodorant!! :-)

BO has nothing to do with "desi" or western clothes.. BO is due to perspiring there are many deo's that come in powder form and without alcohol.. he/she shud avoid synthetic material and stick to loose-fitting cotton/linen..
Niks, if u wondering how to bring up this subject, may i suggest the following. In one of your normal conversations with her, casually mention that u have been worried about your own BO and your normal deodourant doesn't seem to work properly anymore, so u tried this new deodourant called XXX and it works a treat. Then u noticed its alcohol free AND vegetarian friendly to boot! Wow, what a marvellous product, i think all us asians should use it bcos we r prone to bad BO bcos of our diet / or whatever else excuse u can think of.
And guess what, when u bought it today at the store, it was BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE!!! U got an extra one and don't know what to do with it? Here, bhenjee, try it for yourself!
