Body Image issues

This is going tO sound weird but I can’t figure out what I really lOok like. Some days I feel perfectly fine and anything I wear fits. Then the very next day it seems like everything is tight on me and I feel fat ( I am not fat my BMI is between 18-19). I don’t get it. I have even tried taking pictures. One day I look fine in pictures and the next I feel fat. I don’t weigh myself because I feel it’s not really a good indicator of your health. I don’t measure either. I don’t know what to do. Has anybody else experienced this? What do I need to do about it? It affects my mood too. It’s annoying!Should I weigh and measure myself?

Re: Body Image issues

stop reading magazines.....u shall be fine.

Re: Body Image issues

it's the clothes.

Re: Body Image issues

It is all in your head.

Re: Body Image issues

Some days women are just bloated. It's not that you've gained weight over night, but sometimes your body retains water which makes you feel a little bloated or swollen. Like for me, my wedding ring is the perfect size but some days it feels really tight because my body is retaining water.

Re: Body Image issues

Some clothes......and this is especially true for jeans.....will feel "tight" when you wear them right after washing them. But they loosen up as you wear them. Even the heat from ironing can loosen some clothes up a bit. That said, it doesn't necessarily mean that there's something wrong with your body.

There are also certain foods that can lead to bloating. And for women, bloating is a common PMS symptom...that can impact the way that your clothes fit. And it's usually a temporary change.

If you're going to weigh yourself....keep in mind that your fluctuates during the day. The clothes that you wear can add about a pound to your weight. When you wake up in the morning....after having used the bathroom and before eating breakfast.....you'll find that you weigh less. As the day progresses and you eat...your weight will go up a bit.

As far as taking pictures is concerned, it's said that the camera adds 10 pounds, lol. And keep in mind that certain colors and patterns can make even a slim person appear bigger/wider. Again, this has nothing to do with the body....but rather the style of the clothes.

Just some point to take into consideration before you decide that there's something "wrong" with you. As long as you're weight/body fat is within normal range for your age and height....you should be okay.

Re: Body Image issues

I don't read magazines. I have other things to read that keep me occupied. Yes saks. I do feel bloated quite often and it doesn't even have to be that I am pms'ing. It's not just the tummy area, it's my hands, face and evrything. It only started happening recently. I don't have any kind of disorder or Anything. Mitch- i thought it was because they way I washing my clOthes. They shrank and made me feel fat . I still think that's the culprit. I have stopped washing my clothes on hot cycle on th machine.

Re: Body Image issues

True!

Now the question is what should be done for bloating? :D

Re: Body Image issues

You can reduce your salt intake. I've heard that drinking enough water to begin with....though it sounds counterproductive...helps to prevent bloating. Fizzy drinks, certain greens, beans, and other foods can cause bloating.

Re: Body Image issues

Water retention, color/cut of the outfit...

Re: Body Image issues

^ this makes a lot of sense. I will stop worrying. Thank you, ladies :)

Re: Body Image issues

flowery prints make look fatyy and some colors also :)

other reason can be that evry one is not photogenic...mmany smart ppl even look fat in pictures...

Re: Body Image issues

I wonder if anyone else feels the same way. I think that silk and chiffon can make someone look bigger...because these two materials, especially chiffon, tend to hang on your body. And the lining you wear underneath can also make you look bigger.

Re: Body Image issues

^interesting, I haven't really paid attention to the type of fabric that makes you look bigger. The Last time I felt really big was when I was wearing a jersey tan colored dress. It made my arms look bigger than they are.

Re: Body Image issues

You have to be careful with tan/beige colored clothes. Lighter colors make one appear bigger.....whereas darker colors are more slimming. Colors and patters ....even hairstyles and jewelry create an illusion....that can be flattering or otherwise. I'm not fat...but my sister would tell me that my beige top and tan pants make me look wider. Sometimes it's the clothes.

Re: Body Image issues
