Re: Boarding School
no and never:chai:
bcoz kids want parental love and support at every stage of their life that i dont think they get while staying away from home
Re: Boarding School
no & never , however one of my brother went to PAF acdemy for few yrs.
i personally believe that kids deserve and require to have parent's ( esp mother's) attention no matter what their age is , i would rather hire a nanny/ baby sitter @ home for my kids and watch their each and every move + watch them grow + take care of them in case they get sick , but i can't imagine sending them far from myself ................ also i've experienced how hard it was for my family to cope while my brother was away for all those years and we still miss that time we couldn't spend with him so no , never again.
i've mostly seen families living in small towns or cities which usually lack good schools n colleges hence send their kids to other places for better education
Agree ![]()
Re: Boarding School
i cant believe how some people can entrust the entire upbringing of their children to total strangers
Re: Boarding School
I went to boarding school at 12.
I would send my kids, if I could find a decent enough school I could afford....its a great experience.
No I haven’t been to a boarding school. My parents miss me terribly when I go for a 2 week holiday. Never mind sending me to a boarding school ![]()
I would never send my kids to a boarding school
Re: Boarding School
The best place for young kids to be raised is their own home. Rouge kids may be sent to boarding school for learning some discipline and organization.
Re: Boarding School
I have been at boarding school for 5-6 years. Loved it. Missed home a lot but went home twice a year, once for 3 months, once for 1 month. A great learning experience I must say.
If there is a need, I wouldn't mind sending my kids, but not just for the heck of it.

Looking at act boarding school grads vs other school grads and the naubat of the qaum, I think more ppl should be sending their kids to boarding schools in pakistan.
Note I said boarding schools not boarding madrassas. That is a big issue as it is.

Will you send your kids to Boarding school?
I can't keep my kids away from me, not even for one day so the answer is No.

NO & NO.
YES and YES dammit! ![]()
To all you against boarding schools… lets just say its for 5/6 yrs and not most of their lives…
Entrusting complete strangers? Give me a break! I’ve seen the ‘ghar kay pallay huay’ in Pakistan. The early years are the most crucial. If you’ve done a good job, your kid will turn out great even if he went to a boarding school. Giving your kids what you think might be a sheltered, loving life, while they are picking all sorts of filth at school and outside is a very common occurance.
Ofcourse it really depends on which boarding school you’re sending your kid to. Do your research… Like someone else, I went to a boarding school… a good one thankfully. It teaches you alot of discipline, responsibility, independance etc. at a fairly young age. Pick a normal average kid from a good boarding school and an average kid from a good school… and you’ll notice the difference straightaway.
Mind you, the key here is a ‘good’ boarding school, not just any boarding school… I believe it wouldnt be a good idea sending your kid to just any boarding school. But a school that has a real tough selection process that doesnt compromise on the quality of students it gets would mean your kid would be living with other brillient kids and will most likely develop into a nice well balanced and refined person.
I personally am not very close to my family… but I dont blame this on my boarding school years… I’ve just been like that from the beginning… and we were just not the kind of family that sheds tears when the kid is off to the boarding school or the kid cries cos he misses home. After boarding school, I went to persue further studies so I was never really home… but here I would say, the more closely attached would still be very closely attached, as most of my friends were… so even that isnt a concern… and I can absolutely say that I learnt aLOT from my boarding school years.. alot more than I ever would have if I didnt go there. So stop putting boarding schools down.
**:)..........All Boys belong in boarding schools if the parents can afford it.........the earlier you cut Mama's Apron Strings.......or as they say in Urdu get him away from Mama ki Shalwar....the faster he grows up to be an Independent Person............learns self reliance.......:)
Yes it is very hard on the kid as well as Mother............

I went away for college and I would definately have my kids do it as well.
Coming from a conservative background in Pakistan, I believe my parents made a very liberal choice of letting me dorm in US for college and it has been very beneficial to me, in terms of studying, personal independence, confidence waghaira as well as learning how to live on my own. So, I would absolutely encourage my kids to do it, especially if it means they can study at a better school/college.
