Re: Board Games
Solah saar or solah goti is a chess like board game. It is played between two players. Board looks like one square attached with two traingles on the sides along which players sit. Several bisecting lines are drawn and saar or gotis (kankad not kanche) are placed on nodes except on the line opposite to players which devides the square into two halves. So each player has sixteen saar. Each saar can move on lines and can kill rival’s saar if the next node in the line is empty and occupies the empty one. The saar killed is removed from board. Saar can move in all direction but along the line and moves one step at a time. One by one players get the chance to move her saar. The player who kills all saars of rival is declared winner. In Bundelkhand due to plenty of rocks we have thick stone tiles called chhatti on floor of varandah and chabootrah. Generally this board is permanently carved on chhatti to avoid drawing with brick piece.
