Board Games!!

Let’s go rolling back to our past and think about all the board games that made our childhood more fun!!

I remember playing Monopoly, Tic tac toe, Sudoko etc etc. Such fun times. Which ones did you play? And which ones do you still play?

I think it’s more fun playing pencil and paper/board games. It’s like a real life game battle :hehe:

Re: Board Games!!

My favourites were Monopoly (obviously), but my brother would always cheat so I would be the banker, Cluedo and Guess Who.

We also played Carom board, although I was really bad at it.

Re: Board Games!!

Oh yeah how could I forget Carom board. We still play it at home. The fingers hurt but it’s so much fun!

Re: Board Games!!

I loved playing Monopoly, Carom board , Luddo.

I still don’t know how to play chess. :bummer:

Re: Board Games!!

I used to be a board game fanatic. A couple of friends and I still meet up every now and then and play board games for entire evenings and nights.

My favourite games are: Risk, Scotland Yard, Activity, Ticket to Ride and The Settlers of Catan

Re: Board Games!!

Im a champion in these board games ie Luddo,Carom,Monoply,Checkers and Chess :@:

Chess is my all time fav then comes Luddo !

Re: Board Games!!

Same! And we always used to hunt for the counters before we could play. I wonder where they are now?! :hmmm:

Re: Board Games!!

Awww…chess is awesome. You should learn. I think my dad taught me and then I used to play at school sometimes, as there was a giant chessboard in the playground.

Re: Board Games!!

Never heard of any of those, but its nice you have games evenings with your friends!

Re: Board Games!!

Awesome. I get so annoyed with Ludo, especially when all your counters get eaten, when you are nearly home!

Re: Board Games!!

One game I forgot is Scrabble. My uncle thinks he’s the best in the world at it, so its good fun when I beat him!

Re: Board Games!!

My BIL told me, he is killer at Chess, lol. I have always been thinking to learn but never did. :bummer: One of my mate at uni told me ,he is good at it. I better learn from people plus I have heard , it sharpens your mind. Islamic Scholar used to play chess to keep their mind active.

Re: Board Games!!

Yeah me too. I’ve seen people play and it seems interesting. The mind gets to work like crazy =D

Oh I’ve never heard about the ones you mentioned. How do you play these?

Re: Board Games!!

Omg yes the counters would go missing everytime .. still do! and we collect them from all over the house :hehe:

I love scrabble. Really fun to play!

Re: Board Games!!

:hehe:

Thats the fun of LUDO

How we friends play is that whoever loses will do 50 sit ups lol

And its so much fun

Re: Board Games!!

That is the charm of LUDO lol
In the beginning , I used to lose most of the time then I learned the trick n started beating others. :hehe:

I saw that at Coventry Uni ,they have such a big chessboard but I never played there.

We both need to learn Chess now. Uzzy may teach us if she knows :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Board Games!!

That’s surprising. I thought they’re all well known. Or maybe that’s just because I’m into board games that much.

  • Risk: Strategic turn-based game where the Earth is divided into different territories/countries. Each player controls one army and after initally taking control of certain territories, they have to try and capture more countries from the other players through attacking them. The result of those attacks is determined through rolling dices, but it’s still not pure luck. There is a strategic component to that too. I have been playing this game since I was a kid. Never knew there are people on this Earth who’ve never heard of it.
  • Scotland Yard: The board is basically a map of London. One player volunteers as Mister X and all other players are Agents. Each player is randomly positioned on the map, but the Agents are not informed about the location of Mister X. Each turn every player (including Mister X) gets an opportunity to move. Mister X does that anonymously and only has to reveal his current location at pre-specified times (for example at the 3rd turn). The goal of the agents is to caputer Mister X. The goal of Mister X is to remain at large for 24 turns.
  • Activity: This is more of a party game where one player has to either describe, draw or pantomime a word and the other players have to guess what it is. This game really is Great fun!
  • Ticket to Ride: There are different versions with different maps for this game. The one we play has a map of Europe. Each player gets destination cards and has to build railway tracks connecting those destinations to earn points. There are also other ways to score points such as building the longest uninterrupted track, etc. At the end of the game the player with the highest number of points wins.
  • The Settlers of Catan: As a player you assume the role of a settler and have to build and develop your settlement by acquiring and trading materials. A lot of strategy is needed to win this game.

Re: Board Games!!
