Awww…chess is awesome. You should learn. I think my dad taught me and then I used to play at school sometimes, as there was a giant chessboard in the playground.
My BIL told me, he is killer at Chess, lol. I have always been thinking to learn but never did. One of my mate at uni told me ,he is good at it. I better learn from people plus I have heard , it sharpens your mind. Islamic Scholar used to play chess to keep their mind active.
That’s surprising. I thought they’re all well known. Or maybe that’s just because I’m into board games that much.
Risk: Strategic turn-based game where the Earth is divided into different territories/countries. Each player controls one army and after initally taking control of certain territories, they have to try and capture more countries from the other players through attacking them. The result of those attacks is determined through rolling dices, but it’s still not pure luck. There is a strategic component to that too. I have been playing this game since I was a kid. Never knew there are people on this Earth who’ve never heard of it.
Scotland Yard: The board is basically a map of London. One player volunteers as Mister X and all other players are Agents. Each player is randomly positioned on the map, but the Agents are not informed about the location of Mister X. Each turn every player (including Mister X) gets an opportunity to move. Mister X does that anonymously and only has to reveal his current location at pre-specified times (for example at the 3rd turn). The goal of the agents is to caputer Mister X. The goal of Mister X is to remain at large for 24 turns.
Activity: This is more of a party game where one player has to either describe, draw or pantomime a word and the other players have to guess what it is. This game really is Great fun!
Ticket to Ride: There are different versions with different maps for this game. The one we play has a map of Europe. Each player gets destination cards and has to build railway tracks connecting those destinations to earn points. There are also other ways to score points such as building the longest uninterrupted track, etc. At the end of the game the player with the highest number of points wins.
The Settlers of Catan: As a player you assume the role of a settler and have to build and develop your settlement by acquiring and trading materials. A lot of strategy is needed to win this game.
