Is the war over? Read the Geneva conventions. If you pick up a "Combatant" on a battlefield, there is no "trial". He is held until the war is over. Infact, the Geneva Conventions say that you should remove him from the battlefield for his own safety. There are legal reasons that this was called the "WAR" on terror. I think we put substantial resources into interrogating these people, probably some very bright people.
Wake me when we sign a peace treaty with the Taliban and OBL. Frankly I think there is probably more propaganda, misinformation and posturing about Guantanamo than it deserves. This is just more of the same attack on it. I'll be damned if we fight these guys with one hand behind our backs. If we had the cooperation of Muslim countries to chase them down, it would be helpful. But we either have to pay them off, or twist their arms to get them to hunt these guys down. THEN, corrupt officials and sympathizers shelter them. So, the war goes on.
Is flushing a Quran the right interrogation tactic? I doubt it. But I am pretty happy that these guys are not in some cushy resort whining for thier lawyers and doing media interviews.
